Soccer Tots
Sean has been playing soccer for about a month now. I really think he would do much better actually playing a soccer game on a field. This is a class with younger children than him and it's held in a hockey rink which I hate. It's so hard to get pictures. They did have a photographer come in to take some action shots and we are waiting to get those. Sean is great at kicking and running with the ball, but does not like the organized class at all. He does much better when Kenny is there, but tonight it was just me and we had a tough time getting him to listen (myself and Coach Danielle). I know next Monday will be much better!

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth!
Sean is in full swing with the toddler birthday circuit. It seems that most of his friends and relatives have fall birthdays just like him, so we are very busy. Today was his friend, Elizabeth's 3rd birthday. She is in Sean's class at school. Sean told me that she is pretty and that she has grey hair (he means blonde!). Sean had a great time bouncing all over the place.

My Comedian
It was raining today and the satellite dish went out. I told Sean and he said, "what's a satellite?". After my explanation, his response was cute, that I had to have us redo the talk and record it. Here it is.....

She's Coming Back
We lost our sweet lab Onyx to heartworms in January and told Sean that she is in Heaven with the angels. We have one dog left, Boudreaux, who is not too nice (he is a biter). Out of the blue, Sean said, "Mommy, Onyx will come back to be with Boudreaux when she's finished with the angels in Heaven.". My heart melted. I just smiled at him. My sweet boy.

Ouch!!
This afternoon, Sean came up to me and he had an orange plastic part of his toy gun stuck on his middle finger. It had broken off of his toy. I tried not to panic, at first and pulled on it. He then, screamed and I realized that I might break his finger. I called Kenny and he was 40 min. away. I poured oil on his finger and tried again with no luck. Kenny came home and soaked it in oil and then used some small pliers and cut some of it back, but it still wouldn't come off. So, we headed to the ER. The nurses took us in right away because his finger was swelling and I think they thought that they could quickly take it off. Well, they were wrong. A doctor came in right away and even he seemed perplexed. I quickly hit panic mode when a dirty, oily maintenance guy came in with some huge pliers! They sent him away and finally one of the nurses remembered that she had some nail scissors with her that are used to cut back acrylic nails. With 3 of us holding Sean, the nurse and the doctor took turns cutting the plastic and finally, Sean could see his finger. He was the darling of the ER. One nurse brought him stickers while another took him to get apple juice and brought him back to us by giving him a piggy back ride! The swelling quickly went down and so did my heart rate. Kenny drove us straight to get ice cream for Sean and he got a lot of hugs and kisses!

The Great Debater
Sean had school today and he has been doing great. He comes home with a piece of paper that has things circled such as, "gentle touches", "gentle voices", "sharing" and "listening ears" to name some. If it is circled then he has done this "job". Well today, "listening ears" wasn't circled. I asked Sean if he listened and he said, "I did too have my listening ears on"! He was very defiant about it and continued to debate me and later Kenny. I had to laugh because he really does have a talent for not backing down and standing his ground.

The Sleeping Tiger
Sean has been a veteran LSU tailgater for the last 3 yrs, but today was his 1st time to be inside Death Valley to see an LSU game. Sean had a lot of fun tailgating with the Guichards and Mancusos. Even Uncle Kevin, Aunt Debbie, Kyle and Megan came out to join us. We have made this a yearly tradition and I love it.
Sean was so good all day! I didn't have to correct him once. He played so nicely and asked the other kids to share. He and Aaron were just covered with dirt from jumping in the bounce house. He got to see Mike the Tiger which he loved. Kenny and I could tell that he was getting tired and once we got to our seats, he started to tell us that he wanted to go home. Bless his heart he was so tired. He finally, curled up in Kenny's lap and fell asleep after the 1st play. We all had fun and can' wait until next year!

New Phrases
Sean has come up with some funny new things to say:
"Mommy, I told you that ___________". He tells me this all of the time. If we see a train, he says, "mommy, I told you that it was coming". Well, he didn't and we go back and forth about it. For the last couple of days, I keep hearing, "I told you that".
"Mommy, I'm just going to touch that for a second, okay". He says this as a statement and not a question. This is always something that he isn't supposed to touch. "Okay" is a common word at the end of his sentences.

Oops!
After school, Sean and I went to see the progress on Maw Maw and Dukie's house. Sean was squealing when he saw the builders and the backhoe actually moving dirt. He waved to the driver. It was really cute.
Later that evening, Maw Maw and Dukie came by to see the progress on their house and picked up me and Sean to drive around and look at brick samples (lots of fun, I know....but Sean loves riding in their car). Dukie wanted to get Sean ice cream at Sonic, so we got out of the car and sat at an outside table. As we were getting up to leave, Sean and I got up 1st and then watched in shock as Maw Maw and Dukie simultaneously rolled to the ground in slow motion. Once we discovered that they weren't hurt, we all couldn't stop laughing. If only we had it on video.

Games With Daddy
Sean didn't have school today, so he went with me to get a new tire. Unfortunately, he didn't get to see the tire being put on, but even better, the store had coin operated candy machines and a snack machine. I think I must have spent at least 3 dollars letting him insert the bills and then the coins into the machines. He absolutely loves pressing the buttons on these things.
Later that night, I got to hear one of my favorite things. I have to admit that I do spend some alone time on the computer when Kenny comes home. When, this does happen, they don't know, but I listen and smile to what I hear coming from the den. Sean and Kenny really have a lot of fun together. Kenny builds lego houses with him and invents games for them to play. I don't know how the sleeping dinosaur game came about, but it is fun to hear. Kenny lies down and closes his eyes and Sean comes over to him and then Kenny jumps up and roars much to Sean's delight. Now, they have another game where they get close and sniff each other (I have to find out how that came about-lol!) and then when Sean leans in for the sniff, Kenny lets out a big roar which makes Sean laugh and squeal. Then, Kenny does the same to Sean. Sean tried to get me to do it, but my roar comes out as a whimper, so I'm not much fun for this game. I absolutely love how much Sean and Kenny have fun together. They make a great father/son team!

It Blew
Today started out as a typical Monday for us. Sean had school and had another really great day. He is very tight lipped this year about school, though. He won't tell me who is in his class or what they do. I read the reports every day and ask questions, but he seems like he is already 16 and not interested in talking to mom :(. Kenny did remind me that it is only his 3rd day, so that maybe he'll open up later. I just love talking with my little guy.
After school, he refused a nap and then we went to soccer. Again, Sean did really well with the other kids, but definitely has a mind of his own. He wanted to do what he wanted to on the soccer rink (yes, they play on an ice hockey rink!).
After soccer, I headed to a Bunco night while Kenny was taking Sean home. On the way, I heard a pop and the car swerved. Thank God, Sean was with Kenny. Kenny and Sean came to my rescue and Sean kept saying, "the tire blew, mommy?" and he wanted so badly to watch Kenny change the tire, but since we were on a busy road, he had to stay in his seat. I went on to Bunco and Kenny and Sean came home where Sean promptly told Kenny that he was tired and fell asleep. Yep, Sean....it blew that mommy now has to get a new tire! I know that you'll like going to the tire store, though.

Builder Sean
Dukie put him in the dozer
He's thinking, "now, if I could only reach the pedals"Sean loves all building equipment. He gets excited when he sees any type of construction equipment and yells out the names to me. "Hey, mommy, that's a bulldozer", "that's a grader", "that's a tractor".
Maw Maw and Dukie are building a house near us and they took Sean to visit the work site where he got to sit on a bulldozer

Frogs, Snails And Puppy Dog Tails....
Yes, that's what little boys are made of. I can understand the thinking behind this. However, I don't know why boys or I should say, my little boy and his friends love to say, "toot"and "pootie", for example. Sean and his friends say this and start laughing.
Sean has made tooting a form of entertainment. He know says, "hey mommy, look at this" and he will kick his leg either to the side, to the front, to the back (yes, he can do this many ways) and toot at just the right time that he lifts his leg. His Maw Maw finds this so funny, that she bought him his very own whoopee cushion! Here's Sean performing for Maw Maw, Dukie, Daddy and myself.

Sniff, Sniff
Sean had his 2nd day of school today and came back with another excellent report. Yeah, Sean!
Sean has being doing something odd with food for the last couple of months. He has to smell everything before he eats it and he likes to smell mine and Kenny's food, too! He has taken "picky eater" to a new level. I'm hoping that his phase will pass, also. It is funny, though.

First Day of School
My big boy started his 1st day of school today. Since he is a Nov. birthday, he won't be in prek until next year. He is going to his same MDO, but for 3 days a week as opposed to 2 days last year. This was the first year that they used a car line and Sean had no fears or worries. On the way to school, he told me that he was "happy to go to school." The director got him out of the car and he turned back and waved and that was that. He is so grown up! He had a great 1st day and looked so cute with his backpack and Scooby Doo lunch box.

Playing With Ashley
I offered to watch my niece Ashley, age 1 today while Nanny took Abby to her 1st day of preK 4. The moms had to stay for the 1st day. Sean did really well playing with Ashley and found a new game that he likes, Hungry Hippos. I can see that we'll be having this game in our house, too.

Labor Day
Kenny was home this Labor Day which I don't think has happened in the last couple of years. So, I decided that we should bbq and have some family time.
We both wound up sleeping in with Sean being awake. We're still not sure how that happened. After a long lazy am, Kenny grilled lunch for us which was followed by a water gun fight. We all 3 had a really good time.

Sean, The Gymnast?
Sean quickly learned how to do somersaults after watching mommy do one (yes, I did a somersault). Whenever he hears music, he clears his toys out of the way and starts to show me his somersaults.

Sean's A Who Dat
Tonight we took Sean to his 1st Saints game and it was his 1st time to be inside the Superdome. All day, he kept talking about going to see the football players. He didn't take a nap, but fell asleep in the car on the way there.
Once we got there, he started having fun. He got to kick a football, throw one and catch one on an inflatable football player bounce house. After getting some cute pics, we headed in for dinner. We had a family pic taken by a nice new grandpa that we met at the game. Sean seemed to like the pre game music, however, after eating his chicken strips, he informed me that he wanted to go home. We got him some cotton candy and he was happy! He also loved seeing the players warming up on the field and he seems to like the field goal kickers the best. We only made it until the end of the 1st quarter, but he did great for his 1st game!

The Fearless Scooter Rider
I thought that we would beat the heat today, but I was wrong :(. Apparently, I didn't get us out of the house soon enough. Sean wanted to ride his scooter, so we went out to the front yard. After walking half way down the street, I convinced him to ride in the driveway while I sat and read the mail. All of the sudden, he fell. I gasped and I swear this seemed like a Jack Tripper moment from Three's Company. Sean jumped up and said, "I'm okay, I'm okay, everything is okay. I was just going too fast". My mouth hung open as he brushed himself off and jumped back on.
My child finally napped today (although it was very short) and then we went out to the backyard and I filled his water guns and let him play. He squirted me a couple of times and then I figured I could get him to water the plants with his guns!

Lovebugs, Friend Or Foe?
Lovebug season is in full force up here in the wooded areas of LA. You have to get into your car quickly or they'll be in there with you and they cost me a lot of money in carwashes. However, if I had to pick a bug that I liked, I guess it would be the lovebug. Sean, on the other hand, is terrified of them. I've told him over and over that they don't bite, but he doesn't believe me.
We were blowing bubbles in the backyard and a swarm of them surrounded him. He started screaming and inside we went. Then, on our way out to run an errand, I found him spitting on one that was lying on the ground by the car! (I swear he learned to spit from a certain little boy at MDO).
