Fishing With Daddy on Father's Day

beautiful

Kenny had a great time fishing (with Sean's Superman pole) and Sean not so much. Fishing takes some patience and Sean has none. Couple the fact that it is unbearably hot, we probably were at the fishing pond for about an hour. Kenny showed Sean the shrimp and worms that were the bait and Sean was afraid of the shrimp, but liked the worms. It truly was beautiful outside. I snapped some pictures of the scenery. We went to Fairview State Park in Madisonville and fished in the Tchefuncte River. Thank God, I bought a life vest for Sean because as I expected he liked to get too close to the water's edge. I had just moved to a shadier spot to watch when I heard Kenny call out that he felt a tug on the line. Lo and behold, Kenny caught a fish on Sean's Superman fishing pole! He landed the fish, but as I was fumbling for my camera, Sean ran over and touched the fish, which knocked it loose from the line and I laughed watching Kenny try to catch the flip flopping fish with his hands. It got away. This made Kenny more determined to catch it again, but after a few tries and when he saw how bored Sean and I were, we called it a day.

We cooled off at home and took our naps and then Kenny grilled steaks (Sean ate his pancakes). At 7pm, Sean finally said what Kenny had been waiting to hear all day, "happy father's day, daddy". Kenny and Sean gave each other a big hug. I think Sean had fun just being with his Daddy and Kenny can now brag that he caught a fish with a Superman pole. Both of my guys are happy!!

1 Tired Mommy + 1 Tired Daddy = 1 Awake Son

Kenny thinks that Sean is going through another growth spurt. At this rate, I think that Sean will be over 6" tall. He is starting to eat a lot more, still junk, but more of it. His sleeping routine is out of whack, too. Last night, we went to see Kyle play baseball and Sean didn't fall asleep until 10:30. Then, he woke up a couple of times during the night and was awake early this morning.
So, with a big cup of coffee, I took Sean to yet another state park today in hopes of finding the perfect fishing spot for Sean and Kenny. Thank God, I found one nearby. Kenny isn't much of a planner, so I planned for us to take Sean for his first fishing adventure on Father's Day. I bought him a Superman fishing pole, a life vest ( because, yes, I could see him taking a header into the pond) and then Kenny will get the bait.
After we found the fishing spot, Sean didn't want to go home. It was about 97 deg. outside and my patience was wearing thin and Sean was getting ready for a tantrum. I tried to explain that Daddy was taking him fishing in a few days and that I didn't have his pole with me, so we needed to go home. Once in the car, I could see him yawn and knew a nap was coming. He napped a little bit and then Kenny came home in time to watch the rest of the LSU baseball game. Kenny and Sean cared for Henry the Hermit crab and now, at 9:30 we are praying that Sean will fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.
