Independence Day

"I do it by MYSELF" is a phrase that I hear all of the time now. I love Sean's independence, yet miss my baby. Kenny is more patient than me with certain things and has taught Sean how to dress himself and put on his shoes. I'm usually rushing us out of the house and am always doing things quickly, so I clearly wasn't the one to teach him this. He is doing great and the smile on his face when he gets dressed is priceless.

What Are We Doing?

I've said before that Sean starts out our days by asking me what we are going to do. He knows that we stay on the go. He loves to be out of the house, even if it's just to go to the store.

We're taking him to his 1st Saints game next week and he needed a Saints shirt, so we went to the Saints/LSU store. We've been so many times now that he knows what the building looks like. He told me that he would be a good boy and hold my hand (he didn't want the stroller). I haven't had good luck in this department before. I usually end up chasing him through the store or pulling him off of the floor.

He was much better today. While I looked through some racks, he got on the floor, but was looking at some hats and check out wasn't too bad. He didn't want to hold hands, but he didn't wind up on the floor, either. When we left, he told me he was a good boy! Yes, Sean you are a good boy.

Here's a picture of Christopher Columbus aka Sean (his teacher called him that last year b/c he liked to explore everything).

All By Myself

just finished planting "yellow"
finally smiled at me

"All by myself" is a popular phrase that Sean says, now. Yesterday, I told him that if he took a nap, he could play with his fishing game. Well, he didn't get to play with it, so the first words out of his mouth this morning, were "I play fishin' game all by myself". We got out of bed and I got it for him and he did play by himself, but got angry when he couldn't catch all of the fish!

After we got dresssed, we went outside to plant Sean's sunflower which he named, "yellow". He doesn't even know what a sunflower looks like, so I was surprised when he picked that name. He got to use his shovel and mix the mud, put the seed in and then water the plant.

He has been wanting to see a "honey" bird, so badly, but we haven't seen any, yet. I let him help me put more food into the feeder, and of course, he wanted to do this by himself. Then, we went to the local nursery and got a plant that attracts hummingbirds, so hopefully, he'll see one soon. He finally took a nap without any fighting, so he should be in a good mood for t-ball, tonight. After his nap, we're going out to look for "honey" birds!!
