Funny Noises

I can rarely get him to look at the camera
he's telling me that he sees "Bob the Builder"

I really enjoy my time lying down with Sean until he falls asleep. Our talks are great and so funny. We had about a 20 min. talk about Phineas and Ferb (his favorite cartoon and mine, too). He asked me about Perry and Dr. Doofemshmirtz and I seized this opportunity to talk about good and bad and tell him that Perry wants the doctor to be good.
Then, he heard a noise which I didn't hear and asked, "mommy, did you hear that funny noise?". Where did he learn that expression? It's so funny what he picks up.
Today, I got an email from Kimberly saying that she was bringing Mason to CEC, so I figured why not. Sean loves to put the coins in the machines and pull out the tickets. Afterwards, we headed to Sonic for lunch and then home for a nap. I'm just getting ready to wake him up now, so he'll sleep early for me tonight!

He's Growing Up

Around 4:30 my doorbell rang several times, so I figured either it was a kid or someone was in need of help. I went to the door and saw Cameron along with his older sister, Milan. He asked if Sean could come out to play. I couldn't believe that this was starting already. I remember playing with my neighborhood friends as a girl, but not at 3. I grabbed my shoes and went outside with them. They rode on each other's scooters and then Cameron asked if he could come play inside our house and Sean said, "yes, you can". So, the next thing I knew, I had 3 children playing at my house. I flashed forward to the years to come. They all had a great time. Sean, who had not napped, was absolutely wild, but he did share his toys. I was able to get dinner cooked and then Sean had a small melt down when the kids had to leave, but all in all it was a good evening.

Toy Sale

I figured that Christmas shopping would be harder this year because Sean is now aware of whatever I put in the shopping cart. I am a very early season shopper. I started to shop online figuring that this would be the easiest.
We had to go to Target for a few things and discovered a toy sale!! I was happy and was able to finish my shopping for Sean! He was with me, but was occupied with the fact that we ran into Kimberly and Mason who were taking advantage of the sales, too.
Sean opted out of a nap today, so I'm hoping to get the opportunity to sleep early with him tonight and give Kenny some much needed alone time with the "big" tv!

Baby Steps

I had a drs. appt. set for today, but wasn't able to keep it, so I took advantage of the fact that Maw Maw was already sitting for me and went to get a haircut. Afterwards, I met Sean and Maw Maw at I-Hop for brunch. Sean behaved "so so". Not really bad, but not great either. Maw Maw took him shopping while I headed home to do some much needed housework.
After Sean's nap, I promised him that he could ride his bike. As soon as we got outside, he saw Cameron and got so excited. He yelled out for Cameron to come play with him. Cameron rode Sean's bike while Sean rode Cameron's scooter. Now, for my proud mommy moment. I heard Sean ask Cameron if he could ride his bike and when Cameron didn't get off, Sean then asked for my help. Yeah, Sean. He used his words instead of pushing or grabbing the bike back. I couldn't be prouder and we told Kenny all about when he got home. We're slowly but surely getting there with social skills!!

Rainy and Lazy Day

Before it started to rain, Sean and I headed out to a bookstore and to get a few odds and ends. We stopped by Sonic for lunch, as Sean loves their chicken strips. When we got home, Sean took a nap (he had been very cranky) and I caught up on some computer time. After his nap, we had our usual popcorn and watched several episodes of Phineas and Ferb. I've been recording them, so we can watch them anytime. We both love this cartoon!

Afterwards, we played with some Legos and Hot Wheels and that pretty much sums up our day! I usually have activites planned, but the rain ruined our swimming plans. Maybe we'll do some art work tomorrow.

Nanny's Birthday Party

Nanny and Uncle Joey
they both got to blow out the candles

"I'm blowing them out. "No, me"

My brother-in-law, Joey, invited us all over for cake and ice cream to celebrate my sister's birthday. Her actual birthday will be on Thurs. Kenny stayed home to get some much needed sleep while myself, Sean, Maw Maw, Dukie and Abby (Abby had come by to play) went to Nanny's house. Sean and Abby fought over who would blow out the candles, so all 3 blew them out while Ashley (almost 2) anxiously awaited her cake and ice cream.
When, we got home, I got Sean ready for bed and he was asleep by 6:30!! He didn't have a nap and was really wiped out. Kenny slept the whole night through and I wound up in bed by 8:30 which is completely out of character for me. Maybe it was something in the air? Hmmm...

The Terrible Three's Reared It's Head....

Oh, my!! My mom (maw maw) was coming to spend the night, so she could watch Sean for me Sun. morning while I was at my RCIA class. Well, I spent the day cleaning which is very hard when I had to keep stopping to put Sean in time out. Kenny was working and I tried to incorporate Sean into the cleaning process, but he got bored and isn't used to being cooped up in the house. I normally do the housework when he's at school, but he doesn't go back until Sept.
I decided we needed to get out of the house, so we went to Lowe's and then I was able to get him to take a quick nap and then it was off the Mass. He was excited to see Maw Maw, but she was surprised when he didn't listen to her. He normally always listens to her. I know sitting in Mass is hard for a 3 1/2 yr old, so we left after Maw Maw got the Eucharist.
We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, next. Sean usually does well at dinner outings. Well, he just wouldn't sit still and Maw Maw wanted a "to-go" daiquiri!! At bedtime, Sean cried for me which he normally doesn't do. He loves being with Maw Maw. It was an odd day and night for us. Oh, well, tomorrow is another day.

Thibodeaux The Alligator

he was in Heaven!
Sean and "Thibodeaux"

Sean and I met Amanda, Hannah and Eli at the Gator Ranch in Covington today. Sean loved it! He was full of questions and asked the man who was our guide where the dinosaurs were! He got to feed the alligators marshmallows and when the gator was taped, he got to pet him a lot. He couldn't keep his hands off of Thibodeaux and he didn't want to leave when it was time to go. We really had a nice time and the drive was beautiful.

A Day At Home

it's easier to ride this way
here I go, but mommy cut my feet out of the pic

The brakes on my car needed to be fixed today, so we took Kenny to work, so that we could have his car. We wound up just staying at home, though.
We played outside for a little bit. Sean rode his scooter and then he stepped in ants, so that was the end of being outside. He wanted ice for his bite, so I gave him his ice cube from boo boo bunny to put on his foot. This made it all better.
We both took a long nap and then went to pick up Daddy and then my car. I visited with the women in Kenny's office while Sean played with the copy machine and got a sucker. Then, we came home for a relaxing night.

Last Day of Camp

Well, Sean doesn't have school now until Sept. The director said that there are still spots open for camp which keeps going through the month of August, but I really need to get forceful now with the potty training. Sean wears underwear to school, but holds it in and then pees at home.(not in the potty, though) He is very stubborn.
He was pretty tired after camp, so he took a good nap. My allergies have been acting up, so I haven't been feeling up to par. Maw Maw had crossed the lake to watch Abby and Ashley and she came by to take Sean to dinner, so I could get a 45 min. nap.
While I was lying down with Sean to get him to sleep last night, he was asking so many questions. He is finally in the "why" stage and he can talk a blue streak. I must have started to doze off because he asked, "mommy, are you listening to me?".

Ducky Joe's

Sean playing with Andrea and her camera
This was a rare moment when he was still

he's a cutie

I've been running on about 4 hours of non-consecutive sleep today. Last night, I had a sore throat and still have it today. So, my patience was thin and I was just plain tired. I had promised Sean a playdate today at Ducky Joe's and wanted to keep my promise and to see some friends that I hadn't seen in awhile.

Sean had a rough time with being too aggressive and he actually got a taste of his own medicine from one of the other boys which resulted in a large red 3 yr old handprint on his cheek and a little bit of blood on his arm. He didn't shed a tear and was back to playing. I bribed him to leave by telling him he would go to Daddy's office for lunch. He loves this because there is always candy at the office. We had a nice lunch with Kenny and then headed home for a nap. All in all it was a good day. It would have been better had I slept and didn't have this danged sore throat.

Camp and Bunco

Today was Sean's second to last day of camp. He is going to miss school, but Sept. will be here before we know it. Sean is getting more talkative and feisty. On the way home, he was talking and he said, "mommy, are you listening to me?". I wonder where he's heard that before?? J/K.
Tonight, I got together with some new friends and played Bunco for the first time. It was a lot of fun and am looking forward to doing this once a month.

A Horse On The Loose!

that's my fence in the background

Today was our basic Sunday. I went to my RCIA class this morning and Kenny stayed home with Sean. Then, I talked Kenny into cutting the grass (he hates doing it) and Sean got to ride the mower. Tonight, when I was taking out the garbage, I turned back to go inside and saw a horse eating grass in the lot next to our house! I got one of our neighbors who jumped on his motorcycle to go across the road and let the people know that their horse had gotten out. I ran inside and grabbed my camera because I knew none of my city friends would believe this! Then, I brought out Sean. He wanted to touch it, but I wouldn't let him since the owners weren't there. All of a sudden, the horse galloped off into the sunset (back to his home). Very weird!!

Jacob's Circus Birthday

Sean with his clown nose
me and Jacob

Sean with his LSU tiger paining

me and Kenny

Our little friend, Jacob turned one today! Belinda, his mommy, as usual outdid herself with a circus themed party. There was a clown to do facepainting and she had game booths set up where everyone good redeem their tickets for a price. Sean loved this. There was also a sno-ball machine and funnel cakes! We had a great time!

Movie Theater With Mommy...Hmmm..

Sean has been to a movie theater before with Kenny to see Madagascar II and he did really well, according to Kenny. Well, I decided to give it a try and take him to see Ice Age III. Everyone knows that Sean behaves much better for Kenny. He sees me as his playmate. I had this verified the other day when he told me that I was his very good friend. I was a little nervous about how he was going to be, but was pretty surprised. Stuffing him with popcorn helped him sit still for awhile!
He asked a lot of questions, but Sean has never been able to whisper (this was when we headed back out to the concession stand). The dinosaurs kept some of his attention, but then he got very antsy. To my surprise, we did make it to the end of the movie...victory!! Although, he did tell me half way through that he was ready to go. Sean, I enjoyed our first movie theater experience together!

Playdate With Cousins

watering plants..he loves this
trying hard to take turns

This morning Sean got on the phone to tell everyone about seeing Thomas last night. Abby answered the phone at her house and I had ours on "speaker" and listened in. It was so cute. Sean: "what are you watching?" Abby: "Dora and the superbabies", Sean: "I got Imagination Movers", Abby: "you wanna come over?", Sean:"yep, I wanna ride the jeep". Then, Abby asked her mom (Nanny) if Sean could come by.

Sean was a bit wild, so we went outside where he and Abby watered plants (they wound up watering some fake one) and then they played on all of the riding toys. Sadly, the battery to the toy jeep needed to be charged.

Thomas The Train

the circus at Thomas

Peyton and Sean

All ready in his Thomas shirt

Tonight, we met Jimmy, Tiffany and Peyton for dinner and then took the boys to the UNO Arena to see Thomas the Train. Sean and Peyton had a great time!

A Day In Metairie

Today, I was feeling better, so Sean visited with Maw Maw while I had lunch with the friend that I have known longer than anyone. It was great to catch up. We got to spend the whole day chatting!
Maw Maw took Sean to the grocery store and out to eat lunch. She said for the most part that he did pretty well.
Before picking up Sean, I stopped by Toys R Us and got Sean a Thomas the Train shirt to wear to the concert tomorrow night.
I'm promising myself that I will take a lot of pictures tomorrow night!!

Sean Still Has A Sick Mommy

Still feeling congested, I happily dropped Sean off at camp, so I could get some rest. He had one accident (pee pee) at school and one on the way home, but all in all he had a good day in the socializing department.
When we got home, we were both still tired, so off to dream land it was for both of us. We slept for three hours!!
Kenny took over when he got home and I rested some more. Hopefully, this "thing" will be knocked out of me soon!!

A Sleep Over

Saturday night, Sean spent the night at Maw Maw and Dukie's house, so we could go to a wedding. The next morning, my mom took Sean to Mass and said that he did pretty well. I went to my RCIA class which gave Kenny a much needed morning to himself.
Kenny and I watched a movie together at home (which is rare) and then I took a much needed nap.
In the evening, I went to pick up Sean. Maw Maw said that he cried for me once, which he normally doesn't do, but we think it is because he isn't using his pacy anymore and he needed his security (me). I missed my little guy and showered him with kisses. On the way home, he was very disappointed that he didn't see any fireworks. Now, he thinks every time that it is dark outside that there will be fireworks. He wasn't believing my story of the 4th of July as a special day for fireworks, so I'm hoping that he'll forget about them until New Year's Eve.

Dennis the Menace Strikes, Again

We call Sean "Dennis" b/c since he could move he would get into everything. He even looks like him with his cute smile and blonde hair that sticks up in the back. Well, here we go.
Kenny and Dukie were working on the "tractor" and Kenny told me that Sean was going to "help" them. I stayed inside thinking all was okay. After Dukie left, the three of us were outside when our "Mr. Wilson" came over and said that one of our neighbors accused him of letting their dog into their house while they were gone. Well, for one thing, there dog roams the neighborhood all of the time and who leaves their house unlocked? Anyway, Roger said he didn't do it and was upset by the accusation. Kenny quickly turned to Sean and asked him if he opened the door and let Brownie inside. Sean sweetly said "yes". Kenny quickly took Sean over to apologize and all was forgiven. We talked to Sean about not opening other people's doors which went in one ear and out of the other and I talked to Kenny about why Sean was riding his bike without a helmet and without adult supervision? Hmph!
Everything was better after a good nap! Maw Maw and Dukie watched Sean while Kenny and I went to a family wedding. It was nice to have some alone time and Sean had fun at his Maw Maw's house. It was quite a Saturday.....

Lego Fun

look what I made?

I'm still battling this funky cold, but managed to bring Sean to a playdate at Mason's house. Remember how well the sharing went yesterday? Not, today. Everything Mason had, Sean wanted and vice versa. Kimberly and I spent most of the morning pulling them apart from hitting each other because they were caught up in a Thomas the Train frenzy!

After a much needed nap, I decided to move around the furniture in Sean's room. I have no idea why, but I get in moods where I just need some change. I've decided to stick with the sports theme, but am going to change the bedding and add some new things.

While I was moving his furniture, Sean found some legos in his closet and actually occupied himself for a good while building. He was so proud of his work!

Kid Swap

Ashley with the stickers watching "Dora"

Maw Maw has been helping out at Nanny's house because she took a tumble in a parking lot a couple of days ago. She is feeling much better! Maw Maw called and asked if she could take Sean to her designer's office to pick up some more plans for her new house and I said, "of course". Sean has been to Miss Ann's office before and she always has toys out for him to play with. Afterwards, Maw Maw took Sean to get some new sandals which he loves. Meanwhile, I watched my niece, Ashley for Nanny while Abby was a Vacation Bible School. Ashley is 1.5 and is very easy to watch. She loves Dora the Explorer and I found out that she likes stickers, too! I let her cover herself in Thomas the Train stickers. No Disney Princess stickers at our house.

When Sean came back with Maw Maw, she had chicken strips for the kids which they devoured. Sean played very well with Ashley. He asked her if she wanted to play with his trucks and she really liked his train table. We don't have baby dolls, so she latched on to one of Sean's stuffed bears. We were surprised at how well Sean shared his toys and Ashley mimicked everything Sean did. Being in only child, Sean has gotten much better at seeing other children play with his toys. Maw Maw, Daddy and I were very proud of him!

A Big Boy

Sean has still used a pacy (pacifer) for naps and bed time. It is his security and I hated to take it away from him. Life is hard enough, so why push to take something from him that makes him comfortable? Well, he made up his mind on his own...sort of. We actually misplaced the pacy on vacation. He slept in the car without one and the last two nights he has slept with Kenny since I'm ill and put one in his mouth and then Kenny told him that big boys don't need them, so he put it down and went to bed. Today at naptime, he didn't ask for it, so I didn't offer. Now, if we could only get him to make up his mind about pottying!!

Sick Day For Mommy

Still not feeling well, at all. It's very hard to be a stay at home mommy when you're sick. I still have to play with Sean, feed him and tend to his needs. I had enough energy for a grocery store trip. Since we just got back from vacation, I wanted to replenish the fridge and pantry. When we got home, I got Sean to take a nice long nap with me. Kenny has helped a lot when he gets home from work. He takes over and I get some much needed rest.

The Ride Home

Kenny's cake which was our breakfast on Mon.

This morning, I woke up feeling horrible. My cold had kicked in full gear over night. I woke early to pack us up and then got my guys up. Poor little Bobby had a rough night. He had been sick to his stomach, so we didn't get to hug him goodbye. We got out Kenny's b-day cake, b/c by the time we got back from Six Flags it was too late to eat it, so we had cake for breakfast. That's what vacations are all about! Then, we said our tearful goodbyes and headed home.

Sean was a great traveler. He must have slept about 4 hours. Poor baby, didn't have his usual naps or bedtimes, so his little body was recovering. I was miserable with my nose blowing. Kenny did great getting us all home safe and sound. We had a wonderful vacation. Kenny thanked me for planning a wonderful vacation and birthday for him. I love him!!

Daddy's Birthday and Six Flags

not too impressed...he wanted the rides!!
Sean, Daddy and Uncle Bob(my cousin)

my fearless one and Aunt Kitty(cousin Kathy)

Sean and Bobby fought over who got to ring the bell

Sean's favorite ride..what a trooper, Daddy!

Today was our last day of vacation and we woke up to rain! We had decided to take the boys to Six Flags, as Sean has never been to an amusement park. Thankfully, the rain stopped as we headed out.
Today was also Kenny's birthday. He got all of this birthday phone calls from family and Sean gave him our cards. Then, Bob, Kathy, Bobby, Sean, me and the dogs sang "happy birthday" to Kenny. Afterwards, we were off to the amusement park.
I have to say that Sean is fearless. He rode a roller coaster and kept his hands raised over his head. He rode that a couple of times, but his favorite was the truck ride in the Looney Tunes section. He wanted to ride that over and over. My cousin, Bob and I aren't fans of rides, so we sat some out while Aunt Kitty and Kenny took the boys on some rides and then Kenny and Kathy rode some of the scariest rides in the park. We didn't leave until 9pm and we were exhausted, but had a great time!

The Fourth of July in Dallas

Sean and Bobby waiting for the fireworks..so tired
Daddy and Sean watching

We had a wonderful day today by just being lazy! I spent the entire day in the pool, literally. I was in it from about 10am to 5pm. The boys enjoyed the water, too. Kenny was feeling a bit sluggish because of his blood sugar, so he watched tv poolside while we swam and drank. Sean and Kenny decided to nap (Sean had just started to get a cold), so I stayed in the pool and talked, laughed and drank lots of beer with my cousins. It was wonderful to get caught up.
After swimming, every one napped except for me. I played with the puppies and watched some tv.
When everyone woke up, we drove to another town where there is a huge field filled with people who light their own fireworks. It was insane. Fire engines and police patrolled the area. My cousin went out to light some fireworks and while we were watching, we saw a firecracker go under a truck and catch the grass and truck on fire! No one was hurt, thank God. This was one of the highlights of the trip for Sean b/c he got to see a fire being put out. He loves fire trucks and talked about this all night!

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Crackerjack......

playing whiffle ball
intently watching the game

Sean and Bobby

Sean and mommy at our 1st game

Daddy and Sean at the Grassy Knoll

Our 1st official day in Dallas was off to a great start. The adults had coffee by the pool and watched Sean and Bobby play. After breakfast, we went to the 6th Floor Museum to see where JFK was shot. I've been to Dallas several times, but this was Kenny's 1st visit, so he really wanted to see this. I rushed through the exhibit since I had seen it before and got to spend some quiet time outside while I waited for our group. After the museum, we went to a great Mexican restaurant where we had lots of margaritas and the boys got to order their own sno-cones (sno-balls in LA).
We took a short rest and then went to mine and Sean's 1st MLB game. We drove to Arlington to watch the Texas Rangers. Sean got an autographed baseball and got to play whiffle ball with Bobby. After the game, we snacked by our cars and watched some fireworks in front of the ball park. This was Sean's 1st live firework display, as well. He loved it!!

Vacation Time!!!

that's mine
this is more fun than the pool

up to the waterfall

umm, maybe not

Today we left for Dallas to visit my 1st cousin, Bobby (now called Bob as an adult), his wife Kathy and their 4 yr old son, Bobby. My intention was to be on the road at 7:30. Ah, the best laid plans. The night before, I asked Kenny if he got his drivers license renewed. He forgot. He decided when we were in the car to leave that he wanted to get it renewed. Mommy was not a happy camper. We were then on the road at 9am. After 5 min. of being upset, I settled in for our long car ride. When we got to Lafayette's welcome center, Sean said, "is this cousin Bobby's house?". No, baby, we had a ways to go. Sean did really well on the long ride.
We were thrilled when we pulled up to their house and were greeted by their 4 labs!! They are so cute. We had a wonderful time, talking, swimming and grilling by the pool. We stayed up really late, but are planning on hitting the road early for some sight seeing tomorrow!!

Getting Ready For Vacation!!

I just looked at my blogs and realized that I haven't added any pics...I've been very remiss because I carry my camera with me. However, the past few days, Sean wasn't up to par and I've been busy packing and getting us ready for our trip. I'm sure I'll have at least 2oo pictures after that!!
Sean told me tonight that I was his "very good friend". Aww...I love you, Seany Pecany!!
