The Great Outdoors

he's still got those cute cheeks!!
the mud and tire tracks

the great outdoorsman!!

Daddy's mini me

Sean has anxiously been waiting for Kenny to cut the grass on the "tractor" and today was the day. He likes to be just like Daddy, so I snapped a picture of him in Kenny's safari hat and then we watched Daddy cut the grass. All of the sudden, we hear a loud noise and a not "kid friendly" word come from Kenny. He had gotten the tires stuck in the mud. Sean ran over right away to inspect the situation. I tried to give it gas while Kenny pushed the mower, but no luck. So, he tied it to his suv and yanked it out. I thought it wise not to take pictures until the mower was freed from the mud-lol!

Kenny was on a roll and decided to cut the 2 empty lots next to us, so Sean and I played with the neighborhood kids. Sean was so cute calling out to Cameron and then they held hands as Sean showed him our backyard. Then, they went out front and rode their scooters while I talked to Sharon and Brenda. Sharon had just boiled some crabs and shrimp and offered us some. Yum...Sean ate chicken nuggets!

It was so nice to sit out on our patio and look at the dense woods and eat our dinner as a family.

Abby's 1st Recital and a Movie with Sean

with his toy handcuffs at the recital
this is the only one I could get of her face

Sean was full with random saying and questions, as usual, when he woke up this morning. He told me that Abby was going to dance today and I told him, "yes". He told me that his hair needs cut again because "the lady didn't get it all". He remembers from another day, when I told him that. I love each morning waiting to hear what he has to tell me.

Sean did great at Abby's recital. Kenny and I were very proud that he sat still on our laps for about an hour. He clapped at the end of each song. Abby did great, too! Kenny and I were proud godparents!!

Sean and Kenny left after her second dance, so they could both nap (Kenny worked very late last night) and I went with Maw Maw and Dukie to visit with Abby and give her some presents.

We had never finished Wall-E and Sean wanted to watch it, so we popped some popcorn and watched the rest of the movie. It felt so good to curl up next to my little boy and answer his questions and watch his reactions. He is a great movie partner :)

Sean was so good at the recital that Kenny let him turn the lights on his police car before he left for work tonight. Sean loved it!

Sean and I just came from playing outside and I'm now getting ready to read him a story.

My Detective

I've been wondering if Sean is ready to figure out Santa and the Easter Bunny at the age of 3???? I am starting to get quizzed by him daily. He picks up a toy and says, "where did you get this?", "did this come from Target?", "where did Maw Maw get this?". When I say that he got a toy from Santa, he says, "just where is the North Pole?" "Can I go visit?", "Where does the Easter Bunny live?", "Is he friends with Santa?" There's nothing like being interrogated by your 3 yr old--lol!!
He is a smart little guy!!

Summer Fun

waving to passerbys
let's see if I can get more in with hands

maybe sipping will work

giving the spoon a try

swinging with cousin Ashley

Poor baby, Sean and I had a busy day of errands which are no fun for either of us. Abby's 1st dance recital is tomorrow and we had to get her gifts, drive by the theater so that I know where it is located, pick up Kenny's dry cleaning, have the car detailed and run by Nanny's to pick up the tickets. We also stopped by K-Mart to get another plant for my patio. I have promised him that when he wakes up, we will go outside and play and he can help me destroy the "ant pilts" and water the plants.

Sean did enjoy pointing out to me every truck that he saw as I was driving. He can tell the difference between a cement truck, a dump truck, a garbage truck and a tow truck. He's a smart fella!!
After his nap, we had went to visit cousin Ashley who was with Maw Maw. Nanny was with Abby at her dance rehearsal. Sean and Ashley played outside for awhile and had a good time. Then, I took Sean to get his 1st sno-ball. Yes, that's right, he's 3 and hasn't had a sno-ball, yet. I always want to capture his "firsts"on camera and wanted Kenny to be with us. Kenny is usually home on Sundays and the sno-ball stands are closed. So, I took my baby to get one today. I could tell that Kenny was upset that he missed it, but I got it all on my camera.

Playdate With The Boys

Dominic finally deciding to get wet :)
Mason, not to happy about water in his eyes

Sean and Nico and the blue watering can :(

he's not about to get his head wet

Today, Sean had a playdate at the Trailhead (water spout park) with Nico, Dominic and Mason. Nico and Dominic are 4 and Sean and Mason are 3. All are only children. Do you see where I'm heading with this? None of them are used to sharing their toys and they try to take each others toys, as well.

Dominic had Sean's water can and when Sean saw him with it, he went nuts. Sean wanted Mason's pail and Mason almost bit him, until Kimberly stepped in. All in all, the kids had fun. Sean liked the water, but still was the only one there with dry hair. Mason and Sean liked to wander up the steps and look out at the fire station. Those boys love firetrucks.

I enjoyed getting caught up with my friends and Sean did enjoy the park for the most part. Later today, Sean and I had a great time outside blowing bubbles and talking. He is so funny!!

This evening, Kenny had to work, so Sean and I went back outside and played with his dinosaur pool. He has named the dinosaur, "dinosaur pootie". That's boys, for you. We had the best time, spraying each other with the dino's spout and then jumping in the pool. We had our clothes on and were both soaking wet, but laughing so hard. Nothing is sweeter than hearing Sean laugh.

An Ordinary Day

shooting a water "gun" from Miss Christy
getting the hang of filling it with water on his own

Sean and I are trying to adjust to the summer. He and I are both used to him going to school 2 days a week. He even asked me this morning if he was going to school and he was excited. Poor guy. I had to tell him that he will go soon. I think we're both waiting for the summer camp session to start.

Sean had a rough time sleeping last night. He didn't fall asleep until 10:30 and then woke up at midnight. He then, woke up a couple of more times wanting me to rub his back. So, we were both a little cranky today.

We had to go run errands and then came home for a long nap. After our nap (yes, I slept, too today) we went outside and played. Thank God, no ant bites today. Tomorrow, we have a playdate at the trailhead with the water spouts, so I know Sean will have fun.

We did manage to get in a little bit of waterplay!!

Ants and Frogs

"I don't want to see the frog"
the frog that no one wanted to touch

After Kenny had worked so hard on cleaning the patio, I decided to go to Lowe's this morning with Sean to get some plant holders and seeds. We came home and we planted some new plants that we will watch grow and Sean "helped" me clean some of our vinyl siding on the patio. We both wound up soaked in water, but Sean had fun and I was pleased with the way the patio is shaping up. I had also bought a plant that is already grown and had set it on the center of the patio table. Sean must have not seen me do this, because when we came back outside this evening, he said with his eyes wide, "it grew, mommy"! I had to laugh. I told him, "no baby, that was already grown and we have to wait and watch for our other plants to grow." I know that he'll have a lot of fun watering the plants and looking for them to grow.

We did encounter a lot of "ant pilts". Sean and I both got some bites :(. His curiosity got the better of him (which it always does) and he took his foot and touched the pile, just enough for the ants to come out and bite us both.

Before the rain came, we saw a frog. We see many of those because of where we live and Sean has never been afraid, but today he wanted nothing to do with it. Here are some pics.

A Day With Maw Maw

he loves the slide
his favorite though is squirting the water

Since today was Memorial Day, Maw Maw and Kenny were both home from work. Kenny worked very hard outside and cleared off our patio by putting a lot of things in our new shed. Meanwhile, Maw Maw came over and took Sean to breakfast at I-Hop and then to get a carwash. I stayed home and got caught up on a lot of housework.

Sean came home and took a nap with Kenny while Maw Maw visited with Abby and Ashley. Sean came running out of our bedroom after and hour and told me that "Daddy is sick". I knew right away that Kenny's bs had to be low. Kenny is a diabetic. I ran in and took his bs and I was right, it was low. After some applejuice, Kenny was better and got up to eat.

Maw Maw then came back and took Sean to McDonald's and let him play in the playarea after he ate. He loves his Maw Maw and they had a great time.

Since the rain had ended, I let Sean get in his new little pool which he loves, because it is a dinosaur and it squirts water.

A Day Together

Today was a long day, but fun. We got up very early (I actually had to wake Sean up) and went to Metairie to meet Helena, Todd and Todd, Jr. for breakfast. This was one of Helena's visits with Sean. For those that don't know, Helena is Sean's birth mother and we have an open adoption. Sean doesn't know who Helena is, but we will explain everything to him in the next couple of years and will start incorporating the word "adoption" into his vocabulary.

Sean, baby, by the time you read this blog, you will know the wonderful story of how we became a family.

After breakfast, we went looking with Daddy for some possible Father's Day presents and then went to Maw Maw and Dukie's house. Sean had a great time playing with their dog, Lance. While Sean and Maw Maw were napping, Kenny and I went to an indoor crawfish boil for the JPSO Laser Division. The crawfish was great and it was nice to have some alone time with Kenny and to visit with Katie and Alex.

Right now, Kenny and Sean are playing and then, we're all off to sleep. I forgot my camera...I can't believe that I did that.:(

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

cousins, Kyle and Sean
a ladies man already

This morning, Sean and I went to see cousin Kyle play baseball. Kenny had to work, so it was just me and Sean. Sean was so excited to see the "big boys" play ball. Dukie had a parking spot saved for us when we got there and Aunt Debbie and Uncle Kevin were so excited to see Sean. I was thrilled with all of the extra eyes to help me keep an eye on Sean! He is not into sitting for any length of time, so with help from our wonderful family, I was actually able to watch most of the game. Kyle did great!!

Sean made a friend at the game. Her name is Ashley and her parents and I took pics when we spotted them holding hands and walking around the bleachers. It was so cute.

After the game, Kyle got to pick where we would eat and we all headed to Applebee's and had a great lunch. Kyle wanted Sean to come to his house, so we said goodbye to Maw Maw and Dukie and went to Kyle's. Sean and Kyle ran in the sprinkler and played ball. Aunt Debbie was wonderful and watched Sean the entire time while I got to have some girl talk with my niece, Megan who is 17!! Sean was wiped out and went to bed at 8pm!! It was a great day. We only wish that Kenny could have been there, too!

Metairie Country Club and a Toddler, Oh My!!

our family with Kenny's award
in his tie, just like Daddy

I'm trying so hard to sit still

Today was awards day for Kenny and he didn't know it. I had gotten a phone call from some of his peers this week informing me that he was being awarded the Affiliate of the Year by NOMAR (New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors) and that his family was invited. He had a hearing in court this morning, so I was nervous that he wouldn't make it in time, but he did. NOMAR was so nice to the families of those receiving awards. We were put into a very nice dining room and offered coffee and dessert. I enlisted the help of Maw Maw and Dukie to keep Sean occupied and they wanted to be there for Kenny, too. Sean didn't sit still which I expected. There is just too much exploring for him to do.

Soon, they called us into the room where Kenny would be and when his name was called, Sean and I went up and congratulated him. He held Sean when he made is acceptance speech and offered Sean to talk into the microphone, but he got shy which is unusual for Sean. Sean then got very antsy and since this club is very ritzy, we hightailed it out of there! Maw Maw and Dukie took Sean out to lunch, I went to a drs. appt. and poor Kenny had to go back to the office.

When, I got back to Maw Maw and Dukie's house, he was eating ice cream and jellybeans and playing with his cousins, Abby and Ashley.

We are very proud of you Kenny for all of the hard work that you do for our family!!

Love,

Michelle and Sean

Last Day of School

"look, mommy"
this is about as far in as I'll go

checking it out, first

Sean's class

Today was Sean's last day of MDO. He started in the fall at the age of 2 1/2 and is now 3 1/2. I have watched him blossom during this time. His vocabulary expanded to where he spoke complete sentences. He showed no fear when I left him for the 1st day. I cried, but he didn't. He had so much fun. He'll be going back there next year and for 7 wks this summer for their summer camp. He told me that he wants to go to a school with a school bus. I told him that when he gets bigger, he can go to a new school that has one.

The moms came back to school at 11am to get the kids into the swimsuits and then it was outside to the foam machine! I'll post some pictures. This is a very fun activity for the kids. Sean was a little gun shy and wouldn't get his face wet. He also was intrigued by how it worked. He went up to the operator and asked him what he was doing. Then, the man was nice enough to let Sean turn the on/off switch a couple of times. My little man is curious.

Sean, I'm so glad that you had so much fun at school this year!!!

End of the Season

water break with friends
his first medal

Sean didn't fall asleep until 10:30 last night!! I have no idea why, but his little body just didn't wind down until then. I thought we would sleep late, but the people that were coming to build our new shed showed up at 7:30am, so this set the scene for a cranky morning.

Sean perked up when he heard the construction begin. When, the man dropped some wood, Sean turned to me and said, "that doesn't sound good". I laughed so hard that I almost choked on my coffee. It is amazing the sayings that he picks up.

This evening was Sean's last t-ball game and he had fun!! I actually think that he is suited for football because he loves to tackle!! At the end of the game, he was awarded with a medal. His first award. Sean, I'm so proud of you, baby. Maw Maw, Dukie, Daddy and Abby were at your game, along with me, of course. Afterwards, we went to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate.

Endings and New Beginnings

Last night, it was so sweet to hear Kenny and Sean play, as I typed away. Kenny has been working on a big court case and hasn't been getting home until very late. I can tell how much Sean and Kenny miss each other. I smiled as I listened to them play hide and seek and the sleeping dinosaur (a game that Kenny invented).

Today, was really Sean's last day of school. Thursday is a beach day at school, so he'll only be there about 2 hours. It was bittersweet to see all of the paintings in his classroom off of the walls. This was Sean's first year in a school environment and he loved it! He has learned so much and his vocabulary and sentence structure has expanded immensely. He will be going to MDO summer camp for 2 days a week for 7 wks this summer and then will go back to MDO in the fall for 3 days a week. He's a Novemeber birthday, so pre-k will wait until he's 5. Tomorrow is also his last t-ball game of the season. That makes me sad, too. He really enjoyed it. I know though that with all of these ending will come new beginnings.

Today was another beautiful day, so we spent it outside and Sean rode his bike. He is a speed racer, now. I had to jog to catch up with him.

Tomorrow, some builders are coming to put up our new shed and I know that Sean will love that!!

The Great Outdoors

Today was a beautiful day outside!! Sean had school today and I was hoping that they would spent a lot of time outside, which they did. On the way, Sean told me that he wants to ride a school bus. I explained to him that his school doesn't have one, but that when he is bigger, he can ride one. This afternoon, he stood up on his tip toes and said, "when I get this big, I can ride the bus, mommy". He wants to grow up so fast.

After his nap, we went outside to enjoy the cool weather. He rode his big boy bike and he is great at doing this now! Then, still on his quest to pet a bird, he sat down in the road and put his palms up and said, "mommy, I'm going to catch a bird". He wound up crying when I told him that most birds don't like to be held because it is so much fun for them to fly. He's determined to pet a bird. He got to hold a baby chick at a petting zoo and since then, has been fascinated with birds.

After dinner, we played in the backyard and then went out front where Sean saw Cameron. Cameron is our newly turned 5 yr old neighbor across the street. I wish that I had brought my camera, but it's a good thing that I probably didn't since Cameron was in a shirt and his undies!! Sean was so cute, calling out "hey, Cameron" and running over to play with him. They both got their shovels out and began digging and filling buckets with dirt. Afterwards, they were both covered in orange clay (the dirt over here) and we went home and hosed off.

Sean had the best time today!!

My Own "Imagination Mover"

Sean and I love the show "Imagination Movers". We watch it at least once a day and we dance and sing together to the music. I even bought Sean the cd for the car. He told me that he liked it, but he couldn't "talk to them". He is used to seeing them on tv and sings along with them while he's watching. I finally found them on dvd, so now he can "talk to them".
Today, Sean was playing by himself with his toy truck. I love these moments because I can take a peek into his mind. I was marveled by his imagination. He emptied out his books and began strategically placing them on the floor and then, moved his truck over them, as if he was creating ramps for his truck. When he rides his bike, he loves to go over small rocks and "bumps" as he calls them. I captured this on video.

He Finally Rode the Tractor

After wanting to ride the "tractor" (lawnmower) all week, Sean finally got his wish today. We thought that Kenny had to work tonight, but it turned out that he was able to be home this evening. So, we promised Sean that he could ride the tractor after Kenny finished cutting the grass. Sean and I watched him cut the front and back yards and then, it was time for Sean to ride. He loved it, as usual.
Later, we had our weekly family game night. Tonight, it was Candy Land. Sean did very well in knowing all of his colors and how many blocks were on each card. He just doesn't like to sit still. I'm thinking board games, bore him too much. Next week, we'll play his fishing game because it has more action and sounds.
I'm listening to Kenny read him a bedtime story right now. So sweet!!

A Surprise Haircut

Right after his cut...still long bangs
my big boy

Last night, when I was putting Sean to sleep, his memory again, amazed me. He popped up and said the blue train blew it's horn. I asked him what train and he told me that it was the train in the movie, Cars. We had just watched the movie that day and that scene must have been important to him :).

Today Sean didn't have school which meant that I had to plan some activities for us. We ran some errands and then, I surprised Sean when we pulled up to a hair salon for his haircut. I usually drive all the way to Kenner to take him to a place that specializes in children's cuts. This new place was local and was advertised in a children's directory. However, the woman told me that they won't cut hair of children who cry, which Sean sometimes does. I was really mad because they advertise that they cut children's hair and I know that some children do cry. Well, she swooped him up and took him to get his hair cut and asked me to stay behind, because he would probably cry if he saw me. Sean did great!! No tears and I could hear him telling her about his bo-bo on his arm and something about police cars. Since I surprised him with this and he didn't want to do it and since he didn't cry, he got a toy when it was finished. My baby is growing up. This was the 1st haircut with no tears.

Curiosity

cutie patootie
Sean had school today and I found out that he was really good, so he got rewarded with a car wash. Yes, we just had a wash yesterday, so my car is very clean! On the way home, he told me, "mommy, I had fun today". It's so good to hear him tell me that he is enjoying himself.

Nap time was cut short by very loud thunder. Sean has never liked the sound of thunder and woke up in tears. So, after some comforting and a snack, he was ready to play.

I usually have an arsenal of rainy day activities, but we had already played with Play-doh and board games last night, so he decided to play with his train table. He always says, "mommy, you wanna play with me?". I played a bit with him and then started to cook dinner and I was pleasantly surprised to see him playing with his cars and trains all by himself. Sean rarely entertains himself, so this is a new step.

After playing, I asked if he wanted to watch a movie, and as I predicted, he chose "Cars". I love this movie, too. This time instead of just watching the movie, he asked me questions. "What is Lightening McQueen doing?", "why did those tires come off?", "who is that?". He is becoming very inquisitive which I love!! Now, we're waiting for Kenny to get home from work, so we can play some more games!!

Snakes...Yikes!!

ready to catch
Today was a very exciting day for Sean, but not so much for me or my neighbor. We started out our day running errands. I have to say that Sean is pretty good when we go on errands. Of course, he loved getting a car wash, also. When, we got home, as I was pulling into the driveway my heart stopped. I knew right away that is was a snake. It wasn't a small garden snake, but a snake about 18 inches long, thick and brown w/ spots. Right away, I called Kenny. I don't know why because he was at work. Then, I locked Sean in the car and ran over to my neighbor's house and told him. By the time he came out, the snake had slithered away and we couldn't find it. I jumped back into the car and headed to the feed store (yes, we do live in the country :)) and bought some snake repellent. Sean was excited. He says that he wants to touch the snake, but I kept telling him that it could bite us and we would be hurt. My neighbor came over to check on us and said that he, too, is afraid of snakes. Poor guy, here I was asking him to snake hunt for me.

I'm still very leery and won't play in the backyard until Kenny spreads the repellent and even then, I'm going to be nervous.

On a brighter note, Sean had t-ball tonight and they took individual and team pics. Sean was so good and looked so cute standing for the team pic with his hands behind his back like the other boys.

I also informed Kenny that Sean is under the impression that Kenny is going to kill the snake for us. After all, he thinks Kenny is his hero. He said, "my daddy will kill that snake for us, mommy". Let's pray that the snake is gone!!

Red Popsicle Juice and Sand....Ugh

being cute
the popsicle

The first thing Sean asked me this morning was to ride the tractor. I should have known that with his sharp memory, he wouldn't have forgotten how the rain messed up his tractor ride last night. I told him that he had school today, but could sit on the tractor and that he could ride it when Daddy comes home.

Sean had school today, so he napped pretty quickly when we got home. After his nap, we had our usual afternoon snack and then we headed for the backyard. Already in mid-May it is extremely hot which makes it pretty miserable outside unless you are in water. So when Sean started to get red faced, I got out the worm sprinkler. He didn't want to run through it today, but instead enjoyed sitting in the middle of it and taking one of the worm "arms" and spraying it himself. Since we were still hot, I got some popsicles. We both chose red. I had no idea that the popsicle juice stains. Sean's hands were dark red and so were my knees and arms (thank you, Sean :)). It was so relaxing to sit back in the patio chair that I didn't notice Sean grab his Moon Sand. He thought it would be fun to dump it on his head, shovel it into his bathing suit and pour it all over his body. Now, I had a little boy covered in red popsicle and white sand! He had fun, which made the scrub down bath he had worth it.

During the sand pouring, Sean noticed a familiar sound, a tractor!! We went to the front yard and he sat on my lap as we watched a tractor spread some dirt where a new house is going to be built. Sean loved it. He waved to the construction worker and then to my surprise, gave him the thumbs up sign!! It was so cute! He asked if he could help and I told him that when he gets bigger, he can help. He told me, "I need to be big and strong to work the tractor".

After his bath, Kenny came home and Sean couldn't wait to tell his Daddy about the tractor!!

School Update

Sean had a sassy mouth this morning, so I was anxious how his day at school would go. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I saw Bruce bringing Nathan today and my heart sank. At the age of 3, Nathan and Sean do not get along. When I picked him up, I asked Miss Christy how Sean was doing and what was going on between him and Nathan. She said that Nathan is the aggressor with Sean and Sean has thankfully used his words to stand up for himself instead of pushing. However, whenever, I walk into the room, Sean becomes the aggressor with whoever happens to be nearby. He is testing me to see my reactions. Miss Christy said that Sean is very smart, but has a very short attention span. He can pay attention when he is interested in something, however. He still has not used the potty at school or at home. I can't believe that he holds it in for 4 hours at school! I think he fears change and does not like the underwear. I have to learn patience and believe that he will potty when he makes up his mind to do so.

After Sean's nap, we went to ride his bike and I discovered that he has added some new phrases to his vocabulary. He told me that "Daddy almost forgot that", which means "Daddy must have forgot that". He was thirsty after his bike ride and after his juice he said, "That's so much better" and when he saw the neighbor's dog, Brownie outside, he said, "he's a brown dog or maybe not". The "maybe not" was so funny!
I had promised Sean a "tractor" ride, but it started to thunder and then we had a storm, so he didn't get to ride. He was upset, but Kenny and I distracted him and he soon forgot, until this morning....to be continued...

Mother's Day 2009

mommy wet after her attempt
here comes, Daddy

and now our baby..

This morning Sean and Kenny woke me up with some beautiful Mother's Day cards and Sean told me happy mommy's day. Then, they went to make me breakfast in bed. Sean came in and told me that Daddy was making me dinner (which he meant breakfast). It was very yummy and Kenny even took Sean for a walk, so that I got to lie in bed with a cup of coffee for a little while.

We got dressed and went to Gulport, MS to the outlet stores where I got a beautiful Coach purse and wallet. Then, we came home and Kenny barbecued hot dogs and sausage for me and Sean ate a pop tart! We got Sean a Slip N' Slide which he loved, but we all had trouble sliding on it. We all took a turn and Sean laughed as he watched his mommy and daddy get wet and try to slide.

It was a really wonderful and fun day. Sean, thank you so much for making me your mommy. I love you so much. No matter how grown up you become, you will always be my beautiful baby boy. I love you, my baby Sean Patrick!!!

Building A Shed

measuring just like Daddy
he loves drills

Sean was so excited this morning because as he said, "Dukie and Uncle Bubba are coming to build a shed." Actually, they are building a deck for us to have our new shed put onto. The shed will be coming in a couple of weeks. Sean got to hold and press a drill (there were no drill bits in it) and he even pulled out a tape measure and mimicked Daddy by measuring a piece of wood.

During this, Sean came with me and Maw Maw and Nanny to have a Mother's Day lunch for Maw Maw. We gave her Sean's framed school picture and two finger paintings that Sean had made for her. Maw Maw was so happy. The restaurant didn't have chicken strips for Sean, so since we were with Maw Maw, she made sure that Sean got ice cream as a treat after lunch.

Sean was so tired from being out in the sun all morning with the "builders", that he went right to sleep after lunch.

Tonight, I'm going out to dinner with my sorority sisters that I haven't seen in about 20 years and Sean and Kenny are going to have a father/son bonding night!

Finger Painting and Family Game Night

showing me his painted hand
"mommy, this is how you do it"

It amazes me how Sean remembers something in the morning that I told him at some point the day before. This morning his first words were, "I'm going to make a card for Maw Maw". He's right. I decided to let him finger paint a card for her.

We went outside because I'd never done finger paint before and wasn't sure how this was going to turn out. He knew more than me. I was just going to dip his hand in the paint and he said, "no, Mommy, I'll do it" and he painted his hand with a brush just like Miss Christy does at school. It was so cute. After I picked up the paint, the phone rang and I got to talk to my best friend who I haven't talked to in awhile. Well, I took the phone outside and can tell that I've become much more lax with rules, because Sean went to the side of the house and turned on the hose (yes, he's figured out how to do this) and was soaking wet when I finished my conversation. He had so much fun, until the water got into his eyes. He was ready to go inside after that!

Since Kenny has so much work to do today, I thought it would brighten his day, if we dropped by and brought him one of Sean's finger paintings. Sean brought into his office and Kenny loved it.

I wanted to start up a family game night, where one night a week, the three of us play a game together. I bought Chutes and Ladders. Sean enjoyed spinning the wheel the most and then, would run around while Kenny and I moved the board pieces. Sean isn't into sitting still, right now! Sean won 2 games and I won 1. Better luck next time, Daddy.

Early Mother's Day

I love this gift!!
wet from hose "war" with mommy!!

Sean had school today and I figured that Miss Christy would have the children make gifts for their mommies and I was right! Sean greeted me with a plant that had a sweet poem attached and a garden stake with a picture of him that says, "Garden Angel". There was also a form filled out all about me. Miss Christy asked the children a few questions about their mommies. Sean said that I was 4 yrs old, that my hair is blue, my eyes are black, that my favorite food is eggs, that my favorite tv show is cartoons and that my favorite thing to do is to play with him. I laughed and cried at the same time. It is so sweet.

Sean ate a good lunch for me and took a nap. I promised him a bike ride after his nap, so he rode and we looked at the new houses being built. Then, we played cars and trains and Sean ate all of his dinner! He was rewarded with an orange popsicle. Then, it was back outside to pick some weeds and water the plants. Sean brought out his little scissors to help me weed and then the fun started with the garden hose. When, we were finished, we were both soaking wet. I hosed Sean down and he laughed and laughed. I'm so excited about getting to spend Mother's Day with my two guys!

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble

such a cute face!!
where are those bubbles?

Sean had an extra day of school this week due to a scheduling conflict, so he's going three days this week. It's been strange for me. As much as, I need the time to run errands and do housework, I miss my little guy when he's not with me. I even picked him up a little early today.

Sean was hungry which always surprises me since he never eats and asked for lunch, since he never eats it at school. He ate his lunch and took a nap right away. He was in trouble, though. He was having a pretty good day according to Miss Christy, but when I picked him up, he slapped Peyton right in front of me, Miss Christy and Miss Vida. I made him apologize to Peyton and told him "no bike or cartoons today".

After his nap, we really needed an outlet for his energy, so to the backyard we went. I had just bought a large bottle of bubble juice to blow our bubbles and I set him down to let him pull the large wand. He had fun, but was a little upset when he pulled it too fast and no bubbles came. So, he knocked the bottle over. I picked it up before too much spilled and then it was back inside which didn't make him very happy. Everyone had a bad day and today was Sean's. On a brighter note, he ate all of his dinner and is now enjoying a green popsicle!

I love you, Sean Patrick. Tomorrow, will be a better day, baby!!

"You Tried, Mommy"

Sean had school today, so I got a lot of housework done. He likes to help me clean, so I saved some dusting for him. His school pictures were ready to order and we are hoping to get them for Mother's Day, as I want to give Maw Maw one. He looks really cute and they did take a class picture! Miss Christy said that Sean was whiny today and he was really tired when I got him, so he took a nap without any problems.

After naptime, Sean was still out of sorts, but when I told him that Daddy wasn't working tonight and that Mommy wanted to ride the "tractor", he perked up. I love having the lawn cut and the rain today ruined my chances, but it was dry enough this evening. I had never used the riding mower, so Kenny showed me and he and Sean gave me the thumbs up sign whenever I passed by. I missed a couple of spots, so Kenny got on and finished up. Sean sat on my lap as we watched and he said in a soft voice, "you tried, Mommy, you tried". I couldn't help but laugh. I asked him who he wanted to ride the "tractor" with when the blades were off and he said, of course, "my daddy"...so sweet.
