The Great Outdoors

Today was a beautiful day outside!! Sean had school today and I was hoping that they would spent a lot of time outside, which they did. On the way, Sean told me that he wants to ride a school bus. I explained to him that his school doesn't have one, but that when he is bigger, he can ride one. This afternoon, he stood up on his tip toes and said, "when I get this big, I can ride the bus, mommy". He wants to grow up so fast.

After his nap, we went outside to enjoy the cool weather. He rode his big boy bike and he is great at doing this now! Then, still on his quest to pet a bird, he sat down in the road and put his palms up and said, "mommy, I'm going to catch a bird". He wound up crying when I told him that most birds don't like to be held because it is so much fun for them to fly. He's determined to pet a bird. He got to hold a baby chick at a petting zoo and since then, has been fascinated with birds.

After dinner, we played in the backyard and then went out front where Sean saw Cameron. Cameron is our newly turned 5 yr old neighbor across the street. I wish that I had brought my camera, but it's a good thing that I probably didn't since Cameron was in a shirt and his undies!! Sean was so cute, calling out "hey, Cameron" and running over to play with him. They both got their shovels out and began digging and filling buckets with dirt. Afterwards, they were both covered in orange clay (the dirt over here) and we went home and hosed off.

Sean had the best time today!!

Outside Fun

"yellow"
just like Daddy coloring on my table

As is becoming usual, Sean asked me this morning, "mommy, what are we doing?". I had to laugh, again. He knows our routine now of staying on the go and always having activities.

The first thing we did was to ride his bike. He is getting much better on his "big boy" bike. I enjoy our conversations during his rides. He has been especially sweet, today. He waved to every passerby that we saw and when he fell off of the bike, he would say, "sorry, mommy". That broke my heart. I told him that it's not his fault that he fell. I think that's because I am always telling him to be careful.

Later, we headed to the store and I got him some more moon sand, an adorable "Cars" table for outdoors that has an umbrella and that you can color on, bubbles and a toy weed eater. I know that I overindulge him, but kept telling myself that we will use all of these because he loves to be outdoors so much.

He didn't play with the weed eater as much as I thought that he would. He loved the new table, especially the umbrella. I changed the solution in the hummingbird feeder and we are still hopeful that we'll see some. Sean watered "yellow" and of course, said, "all by myself" while he watered it and it is starting to sprout!! We played with the bubbles and I laughed as I watched my baby try to catch a dragonfly. He wants to hold a bird or bug, so badly. There was no nap, today, so he's a bit cranky, now. I had so much fun with him today. I love you, Sean!!!

Conversations With Sean

Last night, Sean had his 3rd t-ball game. He sat on the ground a lot and picked the grass! If there had been butterflies, he would have been chasing them. It really was cute. After the game, we met Maw Maw, Dukie and Daddy(who had to work late) at Mi Patio's for a great dinner.

When Sean woke up this morning, he came up to me and said, "mommy, where we go today?" I had to laugh because I keep us on the move all of the time. I told him that he had school today and he nodded and went to watch Kenny get ready for work. On the way to school, Sean said, "mommy, smoke!" It was foggy and he thought that it was smoke. Then, he said, "it's getting on your car" and then after we passed through it, he said, "it's all okay, now". It was a cute morning chat.

When, I picked him up, he was sitting in time out. This was hard for me to see, because he's my baby and I'm not used to seeing someone else correct him. I overheard the teacher telling another mom, that her son was being bossy and told the teacher, "no". Last week, the teacher said that Sean did the same thing, and he was put in time out for it. My momma bear instincts kicked in and I asked Peyton's mom if he had ever been in time out. She said not that she knew of, so she's going to check. I just want to make sure that all of the kids are being disciplined equally.

Sean is now sleeping, but I'm getting ready to wake him, so we can ride his bike and water his plant, named "yellow".

Sean woke up and we watered his plant all while he was telling me to let him do it by himself. Then, we went for a bike ride and had the cutest talk. We watched workers building a house and he waved at them all. He told me that he wanted to help them build and I had to tell him that he could help when he was older. He saw a bird, which he called a "grr". I said, don't you mean "bird?" and he said, "no, a grrr is brown, not like a baby bird". I don't know what he was talking about, but it sounded good to me. He stopped his bike and cupped his hands and waited for the bird to land. I almost cried because it was so cute. He wanted to catch the bird, but I told him that we can watch them, because birds like to fly.
I really had a great time listening to how he sees the things around him.
