The Great Outdoors

he's still got those cute cheeks!!
the mud and tire tracks

the great outdoorsman!!

Daddy's mini me

Sean has anxiously been waiting for Kenny to cut the grass on the "tractor" and today was the day. He likes to be just like Daddy, so I snapped a picture of him in Kenny's safari hat and then we watched Daddy cut the grass. All of the sudden, we hear a loud noise and a not "kid friendly" word come from Kenny. He had gotten the tires stuck in the mud. Sean ran over right away to inspect the situation. I tried to give it gas while Kenny pushed the mower, but no luck. So, he tied it to his suv and yanked it out. I thought it wise not to take pictures until the mower was freed from the mud-lol!

Kenny was on a roll and decided to cut the 2 empty lots next to us, so Sean and I played with the neighborhood kids. Sean was so cute calling out to Cameron and then they held hands as Sean showed him our backyard. Then, they went out front and rode their scooters while I talked to Sharon and Brenda. Sharon had just boiled some crabs and shrimp and offered us some. Yum...Sean ate chicken nuggets!

It was so nice to sit out on our patio and look at the dense woods and eat our dinner as a family.

He Finally Rode the Tractor

After wanting to ride the "tractor" (lawnmower) all week, Sean finally got his wish today. We thought that Kenny had to work tonight, but it turned out that he was able to be home this evening. So, we promised Sean that he could ride the tractor after Kenny finished cutting the grass. Sean and I watched him cut the front and back yards and then, it was time for Sean to ride. He loved it, as usual.
Later, we had our weekly family game night. Tonight, it was Candy Land. Sean did very well in knowing all of his colors and how many blocks were on each card. He just doesn't like to sit still. I'm thinking board games, bore him too much. Next week, we'll play his fishing game because it has more action and sounds.
I'm listening to Kenny read him a bedtime story right now. So sweet!!

Red Popsicle Juice and Sand....Ugh

being cute
the popsicle

The first thing Sean asked me this morning was to ride the tractor. I should have known that with his sharp memory, he wouldn't have forgotten how the rain messed up his tractor ride last night. I told him that he had school today, but could sit on the tractor and that he could ride it when Daddy comes home.

Sean had school today, so he napped pretty quickly when we got home. After his nap, we had our usual afternoon snack and then we headed for the backyard. Already in mid-May it is extremely hot which makes it pretty miserable outside unless you are in water. So when Sean started to get red faced, I got out the worm sprinkler. He didn't want to run through it today, but instead enjoyed sitting in the middle of it and taking one of the worm "arms" and spraying it himself. Since we were still hot, I got some popsicles. We both chose red. I had no idea that the popsicle juice stains. Sean's hands were dark red and so were my knees and arms (thank you, Sean :)). It was so relaxing to sit back in the patio chair that I didn't notice Sean grab his Moon Sand. He thought it would be fun to dump it on his head, shovel it into his bathing suit and pour it all over his body. Now, I had a little boy covered in red popsicle and white sand! He had fun, which made the scrub down bath he had worth it.

During the sand pouring, Sean noticed a familiar sound, a tractor!! We went to the front yard and he sat on my lap as we watched a tractor spread some dirt where a new house is going to be built. Sean loved it. He waved to the construction worker and then to my surprise, gave him the thumbs up sign!! It was so cute! He asked if he could help and I told him that when he gets bigger, he can help. He told me, "I need to be big and strong to work the tractor".

After his bath, Kenny came home and Sean couldn't wait to tell his Daddy about the tractor!!

"You Tried, Mommy"

Sean had school today, so I got a lot of housework done. He likes to help me clean, so I saved some dusting for him. His school pictures were ready to order and we are hoping to get them for Mother's Day, as I want to give Maw Maw one. He looks really cute and they did take a class picture! Miss Christy said that Sean was whiny today and he was really tired when I got him, so he took a nap without any problems.

After naptime, Sean was still out of sorts, but when I told him that Daddy wasn't working tonight and that Mommy wanted to ride the "tractor", he perked up. I love having the lawn cut and the rain today ruined my chances, but it was dry enough this evening. I had never used the riding mower, so Kenny showed me and he and Sean gave me the thumbs up sign whenever I passed by. I missed a couple of spots, so Kenny got on and finished up. Sean sat on my lap as we watched and he said in a soft voice, "you tried, Mommy, you tried". I couldn't help but laugh. I asked him who he wanted to ride the "tractor" with when the blades were off and he said, of course, "my daddy"...so sweet.

The Leaves Are Dancing

Last night, Kenny and I went to Uncle Joey's surprise party, so Maw Maw and Dukie watched the 3 grandkids and spent the night on the northshore.

In the morning, I took Sean with me to the doctor because I figured that I had an ear infection, which I do. On the way home, Dukie called and said to meet him at Wal-Mart because he wanted to by Sean a bike! Dukie already had it picked out when we met him. Sean got a yellow Tonka rugged big boy adjustable bike with training wheels. Goodbye, Thomas the Train tricycle! Sean was so excited. His legs still aren't quite long enough, but he did start to get used to pedalling a bike that has a brake.

Dukie stayed and changed the oil on the "tractor" (riding lawn mower), so Sean stayed up all day and watched Dukie work. We then, headed to McDonald's for lunch. Sean ate all of his chicken nuggets for Dukie! I was thrilled because he won't eat for me.

My plan was to keep him up, so he will go to bed early tonight. So, we headed for the backyard, and played with Moon Sand. I have no idea why it's called this, but Sean liked it. It has been so windy here, that I've been telling Sean that the leaves are dancing and to watch them in the trees. This afternoon, he said, "look Mommy, the leaves are dancing". I was so amazed that he remembered this. We watched the leaves and I told him to listen to the wind and tell me what he heard and he said, "dancing"! We then, spent about 15 min. playing with a doodle bug! I'm getting used to these "boy activities"!

Riding the Tractor

Sean's highlight of today was getting to ride the tractor which is really the riding lawnmower, but he thinks it's a tractor. Kenny woke up early and Sean and I went outside to watch him, "weedech", as Sean says. Sean kept asking if he was almost finished because he was so excited to ride the tractor. Then, we watched, Kenny mow the lawn and then, Sean got his turn. Kenny turned the blades off and took the "tractor" into the street and let Sean ride with him and even steer. Sean came inside to tell me all about it.

Then, Kenny went to work and Sean and I played and watched "Handy Manny" and took a nap. Afterwards, I wanted to enjoy the beautiful day, so I took Sean outside to hang my new hummingbird feeder and let him ride his bike. Instead, of riding though, he decided he wanted to pull his wagon around. I'm not sure why he likes this, but he thinks, it's fun. After a major 3 yr old tantrum, we came right inside and Sean said he was "vewy sorry" and ate all of his chicken nuggets for me for dinner. Now, hopefully, he'll go to sleep early so that the Easter Bunny will come!!

4 Wheelers and Tractors

This morning, Sean and I cuddled on the sofa as usual and I asked him how he liked playing baseball last night. He said, "it didn't have any 4 wheelers or tractors". I said, "no, baby, this was the baseball game". He said matter of fact, "the 4 wheelers and tractors must be in their attic". I started laughing to myself. I told him that our Christmas tree is in the attic when he asked where that was a couple of months ago. Now, when he doesn't see something, he must think that it is in an attic. We can only figure that the way to the YMCA last night was along a country road and the strawberry patch that we went to a couple of weeks ago, was also along a country road and maybe he thought that we were going there last night. I wish I could peek into his mind and see how he thinks. It's so amazing.

Sean had school today. He came home with a lot of little treat bags from his friends and I let him have some candy on the way home. We also got a car wash, which is Sean's favorite thing to do. He loves watching the brushes. Then, we came home for a nap and had a bike ride after dinner. Sean also got to play on his "puter" (computer). Every once in awhile, he likes to play with this. I'm trying to get him to recognize his letters and the computer keyboard helps.

Tomorrow, we're going to a crawfish boil and Kenny is off of work, so it should be a great family day!
