He Did It!!!

Finally, after years of trying to get Sean to potty, he did it on his own!! He dug his heels in 2 yrs ago and used to tell me , "no thank you" when I would try to potty train him. Well, he needed to do it on his own terms when he was good and ready.

He is now using the potty at school and his teacher threw him an ice cream party to celebrate. We are so proud of you, Sean!!

Roll, Run, Jump!

This morning as soon as we got up, Sean said, "what are we doing?" and I laughed and called Kenny to tell him what he had said. He is so used to us being on the go. I promised him that we would go outside and play. We put the big boy underwear on and headed for the backyard. There were a couple of yellow flowers growing and Sean picked some for me! He said, "I need to pick em before the bees eat them". I marvel at the things that he says. We played with bubbles and since there was no pee pee accident, we went to the potty were Sean informed me that his "pee pee wasn't working". He is the funniest person I know!

I put a pull up back on him because we were headed out to cousin Abby's 4th birthday party at Northshore Gymnastics. Sean got to jump and roll and swing into a huge vat of foam. He loved it! He was the child with the most energy. The teacher couldn't keep up with him which gave me an indication of what probably goes on at school. He liked his cake but was disappointed that there was no ice cream. After the party, we went over to Abby's to watch her open her gifts. Sean wanted to open them, too, and Abby was nice enough to let him help her.

Then, it was movie night for Sean. He picked out Wall-E and asked about 100 questions. It was cute. Kenny and I kept smiling at each other as he asked us what the robot was doing now. We all fell asleep before the movie ended, so we need to re watch it! It was a nice family day and evening.

Potty Training Day 2

j
Sean woke up this morning and for some reason thought that Kenny was going to cut the grass (I know he wants to ride the "tractor"). I told him that Daddy was working, then he said, "are you ready to play with me" and I laughed because my eyes were barely open and I hadn't had my coffee, yet. He knows already that I love coffee, so he said, "when you finish" and kept checking my coffee mug to see if I was done. We played with his toys and then we made a get well card for his cousin Megan. I did the writing and Sean cut out paper and glued them, put stickers on it and drew a circle. We dropped this off in Megan's mailbox.

We came home and put the big boy underwear on and then we started to make cookies. I let Sean turn on the mixer and then, use the cookie cutter. He had the most fun eating the dough. We're making baseball cookies so that I can practice the icing. I want to bring cookies for his last t-ball game. While we were doing this, I heard, "mommy, I'm peeing". We ran to the potty, but it was too late. I told him that if he uses the potty that Handy Manny will call him. He smiled and then told me matter of factly that "Handy Manny is busy in his repair shop". I just stood there mystified...he is so clever!! I told him that Manny would make time to call him. We're having one of Kenny's friends call as Handy Manny.

After his nap, we went outside to play in the sprinkler. He had so much fun!! He is liking the water better this summer. We had a few more accidents and no luck on the potty. I'm beginning to think he is too clever for this! He gave me the third degree about Handy Manny calling him. Sean: where are the tools? Me: they'll be napping when Manny calls you. Sean: where's Mrs. Portillo? (character from the show) Me: she's at her bakery. Sean: I want to go to the repair shop. Me: it's too far away for us to go, baby.

I think that he is so independent that he will potty when he is ready and when it's own his terms.

Potty Training....Again

Sean's teacher asked me to bring him to school in his underwear and to bring a lot of extra clothes, so they can work on helping Sean learn to potty. I was nervous all morning because I was wondering how he did. When, I picked him up, I found out that they tried, but he held inside for 4 hours!! I couldn't believe it. When, I ask him if he has to potty, he says sweetly, "no, thank you". When we got home, he peed right on the kitchen floor and wasn't upset in the least. I put him in a pull-up to nap and then back in underwear to go outside and play. Well, he peed again, outside. This time, I showed him one of his potty presents and he said he wanted to potty. Well, since he had just went, I knew nothing else was coming, but I let him sit on the potty for awhile. He's in his underwear right now and we're hoping for a pee in the potty tonight! No pictures today, since my baby is in his underwear. I don't think he'd like seeing that posted when he's older!
