Sean and I just hung out today. We had a morning of Imagination Movers where I had fun watching Sean sing and dance. He didn't know that I was watching him from the kitchen until he heard me clap for him. We lazily got dressed (the heat is exhausting) and went to Target ( Sean's favorite store) to get a few more things for our trip. Sean still wasn't very hungry for lunch, so we both took a very long nap. Did I mention that we were lazy today?
My cousins called tonight to talk about our trip this week to visit them in Dallas. They have lined up Six Flags, a rodeo, a Texas Rangers game and swimming to name a few activities. I know we are going to have so much fun!!
Chronicling the daily antics with our little boy, Sean Patrick. You are our little Irish lad because Daddy is really proud of his Irish heritage and wants to pass this on to you. Your middle name, Patrick is a family name which is the middle name of Uncle Danny.

It's Like A Flashlight
Sean has been fever free and I think his stomach bug was just a 24 hour event. He did start eating today, thank God.
We were in the car, today and Sean asked me where the sun was. I told him that it was out in front of the clouds because it was bright outside. He wanted to "see" it. I told him that we can see the sun as it goes behind the clouds at night and then the moon comes out. I told him that the sun spreads it's light like rays everywhere to make it bright. Sean then said, "just like a flashlight, mommy?" Hmmm..that's one smart boy!! He's making good analogies at 3.5. I was sure impressed.

Sleep Over
Sean spent Sat. night and Maw Maw and Dukie's house. Since we had been at CeCe's party, he missed his nap and according to Maw Maw fell asleep right at 8pm. I missed him so much that I cried and watched his baby videos!! He's spent the night several times, but for some reason, it just hit me hard Sat. night.
Sunday, he went to Mass with them and then out to breakfast. Kenny and I had a lazy morning and slept in. They brought Sean home in time to watch Kenny cut the grass and get to ride the tractor.
Around 5pm, Sean felt warm and had goosebumps. I knew right away that he had a fever and gave him a bath and then wrapped him in a blanket. He cuddled with us the rest of the night. Thank goodness, the fever broke today. I think he had a stomach bug. Now, if he could only get his appetite back.

Blueberry Picking And A Party, Too!!
Today Sean and I went to Blue Harvest Farms to pick blueberries and boy, was it hot. Sean carried our bucket the whole time and seemed to enjoy picking the berries. However, the most fun for him was when the lady in a golf cart came by with water. He wasn't happy about the water, but the golf cart! Of course, he went up to her with no fear and asked what she was driving and even tried to turn the key! I grabbed and tried to interest him in more blueberry picking. After 30 min, and a 35 min drive to get there, we were ready to go.
We stopped off at home to freshen up and then headed off to Cecilia (CeCe)'s 1st birthday party. It was a "star" studded event. CeCe's parents are Jill Hezeau and Scott Cody from WWL news. Also in attendance were Lucy Bustamante and Laura Bechtel (anchors and meteorologist for WWL). It was a lady bug themed party and the kids were given little antennae to wear. Sean wore his for one picture and then took it off. He really enjoyed the space walk. Uncle Kevin, Maw Maw and Dukie were there, too. Jill is Kenny's cousin. Unfortunately, Kenny was working with the police dept. today and missed the party.
Tonight, Sean is having a sleepover with Maw Maw and Dukie, so I can get us packed for our upcoming summer vacation next week.
Playing With Kyle and Uncle Kevin
Sean and I had a late start today. We laid around and watched some cartoons. Phineas and Ferb is now are favorite. Then, we went shopping to get a few clothes for him for our vacation next week. After polishing off his chicken strips, he took a nap while I got ready for my mom's club banquet.
Uncle Kevin was nice enough to babysit, and Sean had a lot of fun playing in the sprinkler with Kyle. On the drive home, Sean and I had a long discussion about the moon. He kept saying that he couldn't see outside and I told him that it was night time. We found a sliver of the moon and he watched it all the way home.

Mommy's Got A Bo-Bo
Last night while watching the LSU game, I heard my knee make a horrible "pop" sound. I was then in terrible pain and couldn't straighten my leg. Kenny iced my knee all the while, Sean was asking what was wrong and asked if he could put ice on my knee, too. After help from my 2 guys, I tried to straighten my leg, heard another "pop" and my knee felt fine. I guess whatever it was popped back into place. Then, what we had hoped for...LSU WON!!!!!!!!!!! I taped Sean doing his tiger cheer (see yesterday's blog).
Today, my knee was swollen, so Sean got to put ice on it again, which he loved. Out of necessity, we went to Sean's favorite store, Target, to get a few things. Sean took a small nap and then we went to Nanny's to play with Abby and Ashley where my knee went out, yet again. Due to my hobbling no pics today. Sean seemed to really miss camp today, as he only goes 2 days a week. He is also my comedian. He has started to shift his eyes and make funny faces...trying to get pics or a video of that.

Geaux Tigers!!
Sean had camp this am, which didn't go so well at the beginning, but he started to listen to his teacher by lunch time. I have been suffering from allergies today, so I was wiped out and Sean and I took a very long nap. Now, Sean and Kenny are watching the last LSU baseball game for the championship. I'm getting ready to join them...Geaux Tigers!!

Play Day With Kyle
Since Kyle spent the night last night, he and Sean got to play a lot this am. Poor Kyle must have been tired of hearing his name called all last night and this morning. Sean kept saying, "Kyle, you wanna play with me?" and "Kyle, watch this". After feeding them breakfast, I got out the slip n slide and this time added some bath soap to make it extra slippery. The boys seemed to have fun. They watched some cartoons and then we brought Kyle back home. There is a 6 yr age difference between the cousins and Kyle was so sweet to play with Sean and Sean was enthralled by getting to play with a "big boy".

School and A Sleepover, Too!!
Sean with his fist in the air yelling "Geaux Tigers"
Sean had camp today and loved playing in the water for "water day". He told me that he didn't get into any time outs today! He and I both took a great nap, as he woke up at 1am for some reason. After his nap, we went to go pick up cousin Kyle for a sleepover. Right now, Kyle, Kenny and Sean are watching the LSU game. Really, Kyle and Kenny are watching and Sean is trying to get attention since he has an audience tonight! I'm escaping from all of the testosterone to watch a movie on tv.

Fishing With Daddy on Father's Day
Kenny had a great time fishing (with Sean's Superman pole) and Sean not so much. Fishing takes some patience and Sean has none. Couple the fact that it is unbearably hot, we probably were at the fishing pond for about an hour. Kenny showed Sean the shrimp and worms that were the bait and Sean was afraid of the shrimp, but liked the worms. It truly was beautiful outside. I snapped some pictures of the scenery. We went to Fairview State Park in Madisonville and fished in the Tchefuncte River. Thank God, I bought a life vest for Sean because as I expected he liked to get too close to the water's edge. I had just moved to a shadier spot to watch when I heard Kenny call out that he felt a tug on the line. Lo and behold, Kenny caught a fish on Sean's Superman fishing pole! He landed the fish, but as I was fumbling for my camera, Sean ran over and touched the fish, which knocked it loose from the line and I laughed watching Kenny try to catch the flip flopping fish with his hands. It got away. This made Kenny more determined to catch it again, but after a few tries and when he saw how bored Sean and I were, we called it a day.
We cooled off at home and took our naps and then Kenny grilled steaks (Sean ate his pancakes). At 7pm, Sean finally said what Kenny had been waiting to hear all day, "happy father's day, daddy". Kenny and Sean gave each other a big hug. I think Sean had fun just being with his Daddy and Kenny can now brag that he caught a fish with a Superman pole. Both of my guys are happy!!

Early Father's Day Visit
Since we are going fishing tomorrow with Kenny, we decided to go visit Dukie today for Father's Day. Kenny was so sweet to let me sleep in and even though Sean came in to wake me up a couple of times, the extra time in bed felt great. Sean and I just hung out at home while Kenny ran some errands and then my 2 guys took an early nap.
After naptime, we went to the southshore to visit Dukie. Kenny and his brothers got Dukie a gift certificate to a nursery here in Ponchatoula so he can plant fruit trees when he builds his new house here. Sean gave him a framed school picture of him that Dukie can put on his desk at work. When Sean "signed" Dukie's card he told me, "that should make Dukie happy". How funny! Dukie had dinner for us which was so sweet and then we came home and Kenny went to work. Sean really enjoyed his visit with the Duke!!

Cute Phone Call
Sean is liking to talk on the phone more and more and now walks off with the phone to talk. Unfortunately, he is still wanting to talk when I am talking. I talked to Nanny for a little bit and then we put Abby and Sean on the speaker phone with each other. Sean told Abby that he was going fishing. Abby asked Sean to come over to play dress up and Sean told her that he was already dressed!! I laughed so hard at that one. Then, Abby invited us over to dinner (it was 5pm). I got back on the phone with Nanny and told her that we wouldn't be coming over so late, especially since she wasn't planning on having people over for dinner. Don't you love it when kids do that? Sean also said that he was going to catch a dolphin with his Daddy! That's a tall order. I think he'll be happy if he catches any kind of fish.
1 Tired Mommy + 1 Tired Daddy = 1 Awake Son
Kenny thinks that Sean is going through another growth spurt. At this rate, I think that Sean will be over 6" tall. He is starting to eat a lot more, still junk, but more of it. His sleeping routine is out of whack, too. Last night, we went to see Kyle play baseball and Sean didn't fall asleep until 10:30. Then, he woke up a couple of times during the night and was awake early this morning.
So, with a big cup of coffee, I took Sean to yet another state park today in hopes of finding the perfect fishing spot for Sean and Kenny. Thank God, I found one nearby. Kenny isn't much of a planner, so I planned for us to take Sean for his first fishing adventure on Father's Day. I bought him a Superman fishing pole, a life vest ( because, yes, I could see him taking a header into the pond) and then Kenny will get the bait.
After we found the fishing spot, Sean didn't want to go home. It was about 97 deg. outside and my patience was wearing thin and Sean was getting ready for a tantrum. I tried to explain that Daddy was taking him fishing in a few days and that I didn't have his pole with me, so we needed to go home. Once in the car, I could see him yawn and knew a nap was coming. He napped a little bit and then Kenny came home in time to watch the rest of the LSU baseball game. Kenny and Sean cared for Henry the Hermit crab and now, at 9:30 we are praying that Sean will fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.

Henry the Hermit Crab
Sean and I worked on a handmade present for Kenny for Father's Day, but it didn't turn out like I thought. I had painted a canvas in yellow (which turned out well), then I wanted to Sean to put his purple painted hand prints on the canvas. Kenny is an LSU fan. Well, the finger paint did not turn out too well on the canvas. Next step was to take pictures of Sean in his LSU football uniform. The sun made him squint, so we moved the operation inside and then, Sean decided he didn't want his picture taken. I did manage to get a few that we framed.
Kenny told me that his marketing rep brought Sean a hermit crab from her vacation. Sean and I are both scared of it. I told Kenny that it looks like he (Kenny) has a new friend! Kenny came up with the name Henry and Sean likes it. Kenny is now in charge of feeding and playing with Henry. Yuck. Sean calls him ,"Henry the hernie crab".
Now, we're off to watch Kyle play in the All Stars baseball game.

Ears Are For Listening...
Sean went off to his camp today and I went to my first Moms Club meeting. I purposely did this on a day when he would be at camp, so I could actually sit and talk with adults. I don't get much of that. As everyone knows from reading this blog, that Sean is in constant motion which keeps me on the go.
Miss Tiffany said that Sean was "energetic" code word for a handful. He fessed up that he got in time out today for not listening. I never have to worry about getting the truth from him because he always tattles on himself. I gave another talk about how fun it is to listen and how proud mommy and daddy are of him, but I think it when in one ear and out of the other. He was ready for a nap and slept about 2.5 hours today.
We're getting ready to read some books to wind down and then hopefully, my little guy will have sweet dreams. Tomorrow, we are finishing our art project for Daddy. I love you Sean Pecan.

Splish Splash
The heat this time of year is unbearable, so Sean and I did some shopping and then after his nap, we played in the water. I had just bought him an inflatable ball that when connected to a hose shoots out water. It worked for a little while and Sean for some reason seemed to be afraid of it. Soon, the ball started to fill with water instead of squirting the water out of the spouts. I have the worst luck with anything inflatable. I spent about an hour trying to drain that thing of water while Sean ran around the yard and played with the hose.
The ball still had water in it and I gave up and filled his little pool up with water. I was so hot, that I got in it, too. I even slid down the small slide! Sean said that I was a silly mommy :). We played for a long time and then came in and took our bathes in my tub with the water jets. Sean had the best time and after his bath, hugged me and told me that he had so much fun. These are the days I love!!!

Mommy, You Feel Sick?
I cut the grass yesterday and may be suffering from allergies or starting to get a cold. Sean saw me sneezing this morning and said, "you sick, Mommy?" I told him that I didn't know and that it may be allergies and he said, "what's that?". Well, I didn't want to go into a discussion of pollen with a 3 yr old, so I just said that it's like a cold, but with just the sneezing part. He nodded and walked off.
Sean had school today (summer camp) and it was water day. Miss Tiffany said that he had a lot of fun in the sprinklers. Since he did well at camp, he was rewarded with a carwash and then he and I took a very long nap.
Now, Sean and Kenny are watching LSU baseball. Since, I'm not feeling up to par, I didn't get any pictures today :(.

Sunday Fun
I went to early Mass and then to my RCIA class, so Sean and Kenny were on their own this morning. They had breakfast together and then when I came home, Kenny was taking Sean for a bike ride. Sean calls it his "big bike".
We were all ready for a nap and Sean and Kenny let me sleep a long time! When I got up, I decided to cut the grass since Kenny had to work this evening. Sean was so good while he watched me mow the lawn. Afterwards, we watered the plants and then Sean had fun playing in his pool.

Fun With Cousins
Sean and I spent most of the day over at Nanny's house. Maw Maw was there, too. Sean got to play with Abby who is 4. Abby is just as strong willed as Sean, so playtime is always interesting! Abby had a play wedding veil and put it on and asked Sean to marry her. Then, she said that I had to leave her room, so they could make there big entrance. She came out in her veil wearing her Ariel bathing suit, too, holding hands with Sean. It was so cute and Sean had no idea what was going on. All he wanted to do was to ride her Barbie jeep. Abby is skilled at driving forward and reverse, so she showed Sean how to do it. I took some pics with my cell phone and am praying that they come out. They looked so cute.
Maw Maw was hot, so we headed to the local ice crean/sno-ball stand. Abby and Sean both got rainbow ice cream and were covered in the blue ice cream. Blue teeth, blue clothes, etc. Sean didn't want to come home, but I could tell that he and Maw Maw were both ready for a nap. Kenny is napping, too. I guess there all getting rested to watch LSU baseball tonight!!
I'm waiting for Kenny to send me some pics that I took, so I'll add those later.

Maw Maw and Her Buddy
Today, Maw Maw came over and spent the entire day with her only grandson and best bud, Sean. Sean and Maw Maw have always been very close. Sean is her only grandchild who likes to cuddle and she loves it and so does Sean!
I went to get a haircut and run some errands and Sean and Maw Maw got a car wash, of course, went shopping where she got him a huge lollipop and then had chicken fingers for lunch. Sean told me that he had a fun with his Maw Maw.....so sweet!!!

Playdate and Water Fun
Sean and I went to the Trailhead Water Park to meet a new mommy's group. Sean still isn't interested in the water, though. He likes to fill his cup and dump it, but he mainly enjoys walking up the staircase to look at the fire house or to run over and climb up on the music stage. After chasing him around in the heat for awhile, we decided to go. I was in need of more coffee and I promised Sean a lollipop at Kenny's office which was nearby. On the way home, I asked Sean what he wanted to do when he got "big" for his work, b/c he knows that Daddy was at work and he said, "I want to drive". Yesterday, he wanted to be a firefighter so he could touch the fire hydrants. :).
After his nap, he ate his snack (popcorn) and I made some cupcakes. I promised him that he could sprinkle them with the candy bits when they were cooled. After 15 min. of him asking if they were ready, I let him play in his little pool outside. He finally started pouring water on himself and then onto me!! He had a lot of fun and then enjoyed his cupcake after dinner.

School...Not So Good
Sean had school today and was very excited to go this morning. When we got out of the car he said, "mommy, this is going to be fun". Well, when I picked him up Miss Tiffany said that there were 5 boys in the class today and no girls. I feel so badly for her. The boys were wild. She said that she couldn't keep them at the table to do any projects. This is her 1st go around at doing a MDO and Sean will have Miss Christy again in the fall. Sean was put into a couple of time outs for "rough play", but she said that he always said he was sorry. I guess I have to look on the bright side of things.
We've been working on using "gentle hands", etc. Not much luck, so far. He grew out of the biting which he did when he was 1, so I'm praying that the pushing and shoving will end soon.
Sean, I love you very much. You are my high spirited and strong willed little boy and your spirit is what makes you, "you" and I love "you"!!!!!

Adventures in Babysitting
This morning Sean and I went to babysit cousin Ashley. When we pulled up to Nanny's house, Sean said, "this is going to be fun, mommy". I laughed out loud. He is so cute!! Ashley is 1 and Sean is 3, so they really didn't play together, but they did sit next to each other in the big leather chair and eat puffs and watched Mickey Mouse. They were quiet for an entire 20 min!!
Sean didn't want to leave, but I told him that we had errands to run. In the car, he kept saying, "going to Erin's house?". I tried to enunciate the word "errand", but he didn't seem to understand, so I just told him that we had some places to go. During our drive, he kept pointing out fire hydrants and said, "I get to touch those when I get big".
Sean took a good nap and then it was time for me to get ready for my monthly mommy's night out. I had him in the bathroom with me when I took a quick bath and for the 1st time I let him push the button to make the jets in the tub come on. At first, he was scared, but then he just watched the water swirl. After the tub drained, he got in and played with his cars. He told me, "mommy, you are so fun". Music to my ears!!

School and Sno-Balls
Sean had his 1st day of summer "camp" today. He'll be going 2 days a week for 7 wks for a couple of hours. I wanted to keep him use to going to school so that he'll be ready for 3 days a week in the fall. He had a lot of fun. He made 2 new friends, Connor and Evan, and learned about zoo animals.
He took another long nap today. School seems to wear him out. I was craving a sno-ball, so after dinner, Sean, Kenny and I headed to the local sno-ball stand. The stand as it turned out closed at 7. Well, Sean started crying, so we thankfully, found another one that was still open. Sean picked strawberry this time and Kenny was amused at how friendly Sean is. Sean asked the man who owns the stand what was on his hands. The man laughed and said that in all of his years in business, no one had asked him that before (it was of course, red sno-ball "juice"). Then, Sean waved to all of the cars that passed by.
Sean told me that he wanted to wear his weed eater goggles to bed. Here's a cute pic of him in his Handy Manny pj's and his goggles.

Just the Three of Us
Today was spent with just our little family of 3. This morning, despite being sore from his ATV accident, Kenny took Sean to I-Hop for breakfast to let me have a little quiet time. Thank you, Kenny! Sean was so cute when he came home, rang the door bell and pressed his nose against the glass calling out "mommy".
After they got home, we watched "Madagascar" and then we all took a family nap. Sean woke us up and was ready to ride the tractor. I was going to mow the lawn, but Kenny felt well enough to do it, so Sean and I watched and at the end, Sean got his tractor ride.
Later in the evening, Sean "read" a book to Kenny. I asked him to "read" it again, so that I could get in on video. Then, Kenny read to Sean. It was very sweet. I love my guys!!

Daddy Has A Bo-Bo
Today started off as a pretty lazy day for me and Sean. We played outside a little bit and then headed to the grocery store. We had plans to eat dinner with Mr. Alex, Miss Katie and Kayla, but that was put on hold. Kenny was working with the police dept and he and Alex were patrolling in ATV's. I had just gotten off of the Causeway and was headed to Maw Maw's house for a quick visit, when Kenny called to tell me that he hit a hole on the ATV and he flew forward and hit his chin on the handles and was waiting for an ambulance. I was a bit panicked, but he told me that he was okay and that Alex was with him.
Sean was very upset that he didn't get to see Mr. Alex(Sean's buddy) and kept saying that "Daddy, hurt his teevh". Yes, Kenny wound up with 3 stitches in his chin and is seeing a dentist Mon. am to see about his 2 bottom front teeth that got knocked loose. Poor Daddy, we hope you feel better!!

Lost in Nature
Sean and I went to the Fountainbleau State Park today for another nature walk and to see the beach. The park is beautiful and I wouldn't mind going camping there at some point.
Armed with a map, that turned out not to be helpful, Sean and I went on the nature trail. I noticed once we started walking that it was 1 1/4 miles. Hmm...I'm not much of an outdoor enthusiast, but Sean is, so I figured that he would have fun. I started to panic when I realized that we were the only ones on the trail and that I had left my cell in the car. When we neared the Wetlands section, I heard a lot of kids from a camp, so I felt better. We looked at the marshes and then headed back on the trail. I know now to never assume. I thought the trail would wind around to the beginning where our car was parked. Boy, was I wrong and I picked the wrong direction for us to head towards. We must have walked close to a mile and I was near tears. There were a lot of pebbles on the road, so Sean amused himself with stopping every 3 seconds to pick up a handful. Finally, we saw a park ranger who headed us back in the right direction. I have never been so happy to see my car.
I was ready to go home, but had mentioned the beach earlier to Sean. He pitched a fit, so we went to see the beach. This was about 1/2 a mile from the parking lot. Sean got to put his feet in the sand, but didn't seem to care for it. Then, I noticed that a long scab that Sean had on his leg had split open and blood was streaming from it. It was enough for others to notice and ask if I needed help. I told them that I was taking him home and carried my bleeding child back to the car, applied pressure to the scab and then we finally left!! I don't think that Sean or I have walked that much before. Thank God, it wasn't hot today. We ended the day with french fries which put a smile on his face.

Water and Bouncing
This morning Sean and I met are friends, Kimberly and Mason at the Trailhead to let the boys play in the water spouts. I don't think that Sean even got wet. The boys were more interested in filling their cups with water and then running with them and dumping the water on the ground. They also found an old ball and made their way (with me and Kimberly in tow) to the stage where they climbed up and then we made them take turns throwing the ball to us. Kimberly and were exhausted from chasing them, so we soon lured them out to our cars. On the way, Sean and Mason were walking and holding hands. I wish that I had my camera out.
Sean was pretty tired and took a nap right away. After his nap, I got out his bounce house which he played in for about 10 min total.
I'm hoping that all of this has made my little guy tired and we will finally have an early bedtime.

Nature Walk
I was hard pressed to find something to do today with Sean, so we went to Tickfaw State Park which isn't too far away and walked some of the nature trails. Unfortunately, the only animal we saw was a rabbit in the parking lot that quickly ran into the woods. Sean told me that he had fun, though. He loved running down the trails. He did grab my hand quickly when I told him that I heard a frog!
After his nap, we played with play-doh and made some creations with the cookie cutters.

Dennis the Menace Gets A Haircut, Again
Sean repeats most of what he hears and I had told him 2 wks ago that I was upset that the lady who cut his hair didn't cut enough in the front. He's been telling me everyday, "that lady didn't cut a lot". So, we went to a new place recommended by one of our friends.
There weren't many people waiting when we got there, so I figured that our wait would be short. Boy, was I wrong. There were 2 stylists and they cut very slowly. There were some toys for Sean to play with, but after an hour, he began to run throughout the salon and even opened the drawer on the cash register twice!! Some people waiting with us just laughed and said he was being 3 and a boy. To me, he was being my Dennis the Menace (into everything and testing his boundaries with me).
Finally, I asked another stylist if she would cut his hair. I was so proud of "Dennis". He didn't cry when they put the gown on him and he sat still for the whole 10 min. She said that he kept asking her if he could push the button on the clippers, so when she was done, Sean got to turn the clippers off. She gave him a lollipop, too. The cut is way too short for my taste, but with the summer heat, I think Sean will like it.

Daddy's Home!!
Today was so hot that Sean and I did not do much outdoors. We went to buy Sean some new bathing suits and then went to the grocery store. All of this was done in the morning before it was too hot.
After his nap, we went outside and played a little bit and it was still hot at 5pm!! There was a slight breeze and I told Sean my usual saying about the leaves dancing and he asked me, "who are they dancing with?", "do trees talk?" He is very curious about everything. Then, to our surprise, Kenny walked into the backyard. Kenny home from work early or not working at night is a rare event. We were both glad to see him. We showed Daddy how we water our plants and I spied a frog in one of my plants. Sean was amazed and kept wanting to touch it. Last week, he cried when he saw a frog.
Right now, Kenny and Sean are watching "The Lion King" and I don't hear any noise, so they both might be asleep which would be odd for Sean since he slept until 4 this afternoon. I better go check...I have a feeling that Kenny is asleep and Sean is awake :).
