It Blew

Today started out as a typical Monday for us. Sean had school and had another really great day. He is very tight lipped this year about school, though. He won't tell me who is in his class or what they do. I read the reports every day and ask questions, but he seems like he is already 16 and not interested in talking to mom :(. Kenny did remind me that it is only his 3rd day, so that maybe he'll open up later. I just love talking with my little guy.

After school, he refused a nap and then we went to soccer. Again, Sean did really well with the other kids, but definitely has a mind of his own. He wanted to do what he wanted to on the soccer rink (yes, they play on an ice hockey rink!).

After soccer, I headed to a Bunco night while Kenny was taking Sean home. On the way, I heard a pop and the car swerved. Thank God, Sean was with Kenny. Kenny and Sean came to my rescue and Sean kept saying, "the tire blew, mommy?" and he wanted so badly to watch Kenny change the tire, but since we were on a busy road, he had to stay in his seat. I went on to Bunco and Kenny and Sean came home where Sean promptly told Kenny that he was tired and fell asleep. Yep, Sean....it blew that mommy now has to get a new tire! I know that you'll like going to the tire store, though.

School and Sno-Balls

such a cutie!!
Sean had his 1st day of summer "camp" today. He'll be going 2 days a week for 7 wks for a couple of hours. I wanted to keep him use to going to school so that he'll be ready for 3 days a week in the fall. He had a lot of fun. He made 2 new friends, Connor and Evan, and learned about zoo animals.
He took another long nap today. School seems to wear him out. I was craving a sno-ball, so after dinner, Sean, Kenny and I headed to the local sno-ball stand. The stand as it turned out closed at 7. Well, Sean started crying, so we thankfully, found another one that was still open. Sean picked strawberry this time and Kenny was amused at how friendly Sean is. Sean asked the man who owns the stand what was on his hands. The man laughed and said that in all of his years in business, no one had asked him that before (it was of course, red sno-ball "juice"). Then, Sean waved to all of the cars that passed by.
Sean told me that he wanted to wear his weed eater goggles to bed. Here's a cute pic of him in his Handy Manny pj's and his goggles.

School Update

Sean had a sassy mouth this morning, so I was anxious how his day at school would go. As I was pulling out of the parking lot, I saw Bruce bringing Nathan today and my heart sank. At the age of 3, Nathan and Sean do not get along. When I picked him up, I asked Miss Christy how Sean was doing and what was going on between him and Nathan. She said that Nathan is the aggressor with Sean and Sean has thankfully used his words to stand up for himself instead of pushing. However, whenever, I walk into the room, Sean becomes the aggressor with whoever happens to be nearby. He is testing me to see my reactions. Miss Christy said that Sean is very smart, but has a very short attention span. He can pay attention when he is interested in something, however. He still has not used the potty at school or at home. I can't believe that he holds it in for 4 hours at school! I think he fears change and does not like the underwear. I have to learn patience and believe that he will potty when he makes up his mind to do so.

After Sean's nap, we went to ride his bike and I discovered that he has added some new phrases to his vocabulary. He told me that "Daddy almost forgot that", which means "Daddy must have forgot that". He was thirsty after his bike ride and after his juice he said, "That's so much better" and when he saw the neighbor's dog, Brownie outside, he said, "he's a brown dog or maybe not". The "maybe not" was so funny!
I had promised Sean a "tractor" ride, but it started to thunder and then we had a storm, so he didn't get to ride. He was upset, but Kenny and I distracted him and he soon forgot, until this morning....to be continued...

Early Mother's Day

I love this gift!!
wet from hose "war" with mommy!!

Sean had school today and I figured that Miss Christy would have the children make gifts for their mommies and I was right! Sean greeted me with a plant that had a sweet poem attached and a garden stake with a picture of him that says, "Garden Angel". There was also a form filled out all about me. Miss Christy asked the children a few questions about their mommies. Sean said that I was 4 yrs old, that my hair is blue, my eyes are black, that my favorite food is eggs, that my favorite tv show is cartoons and that my favorite thing to do is to play with him. I laughed and cried at the same time. It is so sweet.

Sean ate a good lunch for me and took a nap. I promised him a bike ride after his nap, so he rode and we looked at the new houses being built. Then, we played cars and trains and Sean ate all of his dinner! He was rewarded with an orange popsicle. Then, it was back outside to pick some weeds and water the plants. Sean brought out his little scissors to help me weed and then the fun started with the garden hose. When, we were finished, we were both soaking wet. I hosed Sean down and he laughed and laughed. I'm so excited about getting to spend Mother's Day with my two guys!

Being 3 is Hard

Well, Sean had school today and it wasn't one of his better days. Miss Christy said that Sean hit Mason (his bf) and made his little scrunched up mad face at her. He refused to say he was sorry, but tells me that he will say he's "vewy sorry" on Thurs., so that he can get his carwash as a reward!

He was worn out after school, so I let him take a 2 hour nap which means he'll probably be up late tonight. We had to bring Kenny his insulin since he will be working all night on a big case and then, I decided to go to the grocery store. This was not a good idea with the mood that Sean has been in today. There was a lot of kicking the cart and telling me "no". Then, for some reason he cried all the way home.

One bright spot for Sean was that Daddy had some belated gifts in the car from MeMe (Sean's godmother). Sean opened one and it was a huge canister of Play-Doh and cookie cutters, etc. to use when he plays with it. He liked this a lot and it kept him busy.

One bright spot for me was on the way home. After he finished the unexplained crying, a song came on the radio. You guessed it...another Britney Spears song. He asked me to turn it up and I listened to him sing to it. He actually hummed along and said some jibberish. I think he likes the beat of the music. Do I have a future rockstar on my hands? Tomorrow, is another day and things can only get better :).

My Oh My, What a Day

This morning started out so well, that I thought today would be great. Sean woke up hugging me and then cuddled and gave me a lot of kissess. We even danced and sang to the Imagination Movers together. Then, there was the drive to school. Sean loves school and wanted to go, but for some reason a 3 yr old tantrum began. He started to kick the console in the back of the car and did this repeatedly, as I'm telling him to stop. I told him no bike and no riding his tractor because he wouldn't stop and told me "no". He couldn't give me a reason why he was kicking. He probably thought it was fun. I dropped him off at school and hoped his mood got better. He seemed to do fine at school, but when I picked him up, Sean thought it would be fun to run away from me and go down the hall to the church/school office. You can see a theme here, that Sean is always wanting to have a good fun and what would be more fun than to have mommy chase him down the hall. Once, I got him to the car, I told him no carwash. This is a treat for him. Well, here came another meltdown. I told him that if he napped that he could have a carwash. Sean napped with no problem.
He looked so cute today in his camo outfit that I wanted to take some pictures. This was right before we were leaving for the carwash. I noticed through the camera that he seemed to be having a great time spitting!! I told him to stop and he laughed and then spit at me!! Well, no carwash and a 20 minute tantrum ensued. He kept saying "I'm vewy sorry, can I have a carwash?" When, the answer was "you're punished, we can try again, tomorrow", the tears flowed more.
Sean, I love you with all my heart and soul, but this day was one for the books, baby. I'm hoping we can get through these "terrible three" phases with lots of hugs and kisses at the end of the day. Love, Mommy.
